Recent Marquette High graduate Jamie Park is one of fewer than 650 students from around the country to be named a semifinalist in the 2026 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program!

Later this spring, up to 161 students from this group will be named Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students.

Jamie is one of only 12 semifinalists from the state of Missouri. She plans to attend the University of Chicago in the fall to study economics and creative writing and continue her work with her nonprofit bakery, Mental Bakedown, which benefits the National Eating Disorders Association.

- Earlier this month, four Rockwood Summit roller hockey teams won state championships! Roller hockey has been a club sport at Rockwood Summit for more than 10 years, and this is the most state titles the club has won in a year. Congratulations to the winning teams: Rockwood Summit JV (all freshmen/sophomores); Rockwood Summit Junior High (JH) 1 - (Rockwood South middle-schoolers; Rockwood Summit Junior High 4 (JH4) (middle-schoolers and elementary students); and Rockwood Summit Junior High 4, Tier 2 (elementary students)!

- On April 26, LaSalle Springs Middle student Noah Schoellhorn earned a national title in his Level 7 age group on floor exercise at the USA Gymnastics Men's Western National Championships! He also earned fourth place on vault, took 10th in the all-around competition, and his floor score was the second-highest of more than 150 Level 7 athletes of all age groups for the competition!

Khushbu Dahal, a Wildwood Middle sixth-grader, is one of 247 students from around the nation who qualified to compete at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.! Khusi - Speller No. 130 - begins the preliminary rounds today with the hopes of advancing to the nationally televised semifinals and finals on Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, both airing at 7 p.m. on Ion Television.
