A drum pattern from Rample, sequenced by Amnis and Diviser, goes into Fascina’s first VCA and is also multed to Altar for filtering.
The filtered signal isn’t heard directly — it’s fed back into Fascina’s Ctrl input, where an envelope follower processes it to duck the input rhythm.
Changing the cutoff and filter mode (LP, BP, HP) changes how and which frequencies trigger the ducking.
I then animate the CV parameters of Altar for a changing groove. Decreasing the amount of ducking leads to subtle accents and groove variations.

Then a touch of Drive...
Then sidechain by the kick through the Ctrl input, then the kick fades in...
Then some noodling on Altar...
And it got out of hand from there.
I wanted to go DAF weird and cold bassline. I ended up going full on fast 160BPM tekno.
Anyway headphones recommended on this one. The clicky click cancelation is a subtle affair once compressed in an Instagram video.

Last video was feed forward. Very different compression and expansion style. Check both videos. With headphones preferably.
Like last time Fascina channel 1 is used as a first gain stage.
The second channel is doing the feed back compression. The output of the channel is connected to the Control input for channel 2. This way the amplitude of the output is used to control the amplitude of the VCA. The Control input being an attenuverter, it can duck and it can expand.
It goes from extreme compression to subtle boost and everything in between.
You can take the idea further for creative dynamics management. Next video we will add CV in the CV input. Maybe use the normalisation from out 1 to out 2 to mix in the dry signal for parallel compression? Duck the first channel and expand the second? 🤯
ETA is still mid January!

Here Fascina channel 1 is used as a first gain stage / level control.
The second channel is used as a feed forward compressor / expander. By multing the input in the Control audio input the amplitude of the TR808 is used to adjust the VCA volume. Control to the left: compression. When the input gets loud, the VCA turns down. Control to the right: expansion. The VCA makes quiet sounds louder.
The Drive knob can be used as a make up gain or as a straight up distortion.
Crypta added at the end because we all love an 808 beat in a good delay.
Come back tomorrow for the feedback compressor. Different sound different dynamics same module.

I love how it helps set the dynamics of a track right. You can plug any audio signal in its Control input and use it to duck or expand your VCA.
Here the generative acid line is ducked by the kick - crappy compressed Instagram audio may not do it justice.
Fascina can also be used a standard dual VCA through its CV inputs. It adds Drive and an anti click system to keep your bass lines tight. More demos soon.
Also Crypta and Diviser are back in stock on our website.

Tons of prototypes for live testing.
Ton of rage and violence
Here we have four oscillators, sync'd in pairs, mixed in Altar, animated by Crypta, reverberated by the Springray. And I have been listening to it for hours.
Well, I'm back from, the workshop was awesome.
Felt spiritual, might delete later.

The first step is to solder an exclusive circuit derived from our Crypta delay. Then each student will have to turn it into an instrument tailored to its art practice. Lots of fun and solder fumes ahead.
Direct orders will be sent on Monday - sorry for the delay - pun intended
