In this full-day workshop, you’ll experience two printing techniques that were made for each other.
In the morning, you’ll experiment with the gel plate, with Gabi’s expertise, you’ll learn that by just playing you can create something you never quite planned.
There will be lots of interesting materials and plants to use, but also feel free to bring your own!
After a lunch break, you’ll select your favourite gel prints and botanicals and compose a collage to print with our two colour riso printers. What you designed becomes something richer, more layered and a little unexpected!
At the end of the day, you’ll take home a mix of original gel prints and your riso printed collages.

Starting from an original watercolour painting, the goal was to translate the soft colour blends and textures into a Risograph print.
Technically, it was challenging, as it was important to balance 4 Riso colours, colour mixing, and alignment throughout the printing process, all on beautiful Satogami paper. (Thanks riso team that took on the challenge of printing this for me as I recovered! 🙌🏽)
The making of it also took much longer than expected, mostly because my hands became very swollen during the final weeks of pregnancy, 😔making drawing and preparing the files harder than usual. (Shout out to Rodrigo who helped me with file prep💜)

We zijn voor één dag te gast in de studio van en we brengen de gelplaten mee.
De ochtend: vrij experimenteren met gel printing. Masking, lagen, botanicals, image transfer. Geen plan, wel een groeiende stapel unieke prints.
De middag: je selecteert je favorieten en maakt een compositie, die drukken we op de Risograph van Riso Pop. In 2 kleuren die waar ze elkaar raken iets heel nieuws worden. Dat is de Riso-verrassing. Je ziet het pas als het eruit komt.
Je gaat naar huis met je gel print experimenten én 10 Riso-gedrukte collages in 2 (eigenlijk veel meer) kleuren.

Another very exciting guest is showing us how riso and gel printing are meant to be, in a full day workshop that makes the best of the two processes 🌱
And how could we forget our print nights, running every other week for assisted open studio time! 🌃

Looking back on April, we had lots of exciting things, like the ‘Plant Squad’ exhibition, Pet Comic Strip workshop by Maia Matches, and Lucila Kenny’s amazing inks workshop. Lots to look forward to in may though, with workshops, print nights and courses!
This editions cover was illustrated by the wonderfully talented, who brought the theme to life with their blossoming dragon.
April’s featured artist was the amazing, a Riso Club member whose drawings and prints are so bright and beautiful.
