李朝や桃山茶陶の古陶を手がかりにした、静かで凛とした佇まい。歴史のあるものや自然を敬い、その奥に宿る美を追い求めるタナカさんのうつわには、つくり手自身の澄んだ精神性が映し出されているように感じます。清らかな気配をまとった新作をおたのしみください。

タナカシゲオ／Shigeo Tanaka
1963年、京都生まれ。31歳より、ほぼ独学で作品を制作。2003年に初個展。2007年に奈良県・明日香村の集落に移住し、築約290年の古民家に暮らしながら、穴窯、倒炎式薪窯を自作。

Quiet and dignified in appearance, Shigeo Tanaka’s works are inspired by historical Korean ceramics and Momoyama-period tea wares. Respecting both nature and the beauty found within old things, his vessels seem to reflect the artist’s own clear and sincere spirit. We invite you to enjoy his new works, imbued with a pure and tranquil presence.
PROFILE
Shigeo Tanaka
Born in Kyoto in 1963. Began creating works largely self-taught at the age of 31. Held his first solo exhibition in 2003. In 2007, he relocated to a village in Asuka, Nara, where he lives in a 280-year-old traditional house while building and firing his own anagama and down-draft wood-fired kilns.

「５月の展示会のお知らせ 」
少し早いですが、1ヶ月後の展示会のお知らせです。
5月16日からは陶芸家のタナカシゲオさんの個展を開催します。
前回はgenzaiがオープンして最初の個展だったのでもう4年前です。
それから4年が経ち、いつのまにか非日常が日常となる大きな変化の時代になりました。
大変な事が次々に起こりますが、そういう時ほど、ちょっと時間をとって、ほっと深呼吸ができるような、そういう時間を提供できればと思っています。
まだ変則的ですが、タナカさんの個展から展示会中の定休日の仕組みが変わります。

奈良県明日香村で築300年の古民家に暮らしながら作陶するタナカシゲオの個展を開催します。
タナカさんに会うといつも自然体な方だなあと思います。自作したストローベイルハウスの工房で土に向き合い、昔ながらの新窯焼成で器をつくっている陶芸家。そう聞くと、硬派なかたいイメージが湧きそうですが、タナカさんの器の印象はどこか柔らかく、絶妙に力の抜けた穏やかさがあります。凛とした佇まいの中に同時に愛嬌を感じるところも魅力です。
genzaiでは4年ぶりの個展。白瓷（はくじ）、堅手（かたで）、白釉などの白を基調とした器と、穴窯で焼かれた土の表情豊かな器が並びます。一つ一つ手にとって、ゆっくりとご覧ください。
