Hi, I'm Ri-CHARD and this is my CHARD👋. Thank you for effortlessly rebranding my life and spiritual outlook 😆.

All iron, sweeting and salads here 😬
😰 💦Hot work processing Reclaimed Iron but someone has to do it 😂😂
I like to break up my forging processes into distinct phases. That way it's clear what the needs to be achieved at the start and end of each process, so that every process flows into each other. Having done this an awful lot, it became clear relatively early on, through a lot of trial and error, that I massively prefer forging processes. Transformation is way more interesting and satisfying to me than reduction. Over time I've learned continually improve and adjust my forging processes for greater efficiency and enjoyment. I absolutely do not try and simply make the most efficiently made piece..... Go to a big box store and get something stamped out of sheet steel for £5 if that's the end goal. A lot of what I do is about enjoyment. Pleased to say it is absolutely very enjoyable 😂. Quite a lot of tweaking and significantly adjustments to the forging processes were needed to get it to work with electro magnetic green tech.... Lot of trials last year but soon arrived at some good places. Still tweaking this but overall working very well ⚒️

Happy Monday!
There is somewhat of a timeless beauty about the simple tones and textures of ancient bog oak and reclaimed iron. A classic combo 😍

I started out using my mums hairdryer, some coal and a sledge hammer as an anvil 🤣, not in a million years did I ever think I'd make Jamie Oliver a knife and he'd actually be using it 🤯🤯🤯🤯. I've spent the last week glancing at my phone ever 5 seconds saying 'what is going on!!' 🤣🤣❤️❤️

He sent me the nicest letter saying how I had inspired him to make knifes in the first place which I find quite amazing and filled me with very warm feelings….Thank you I’m quite taken with your thoughtfulness I’m smiling and full of gratitude and having looked at your web site I can see your young talented man and a true artisan I hope we meet one day…..a few things I’d like to say really on my journey since the naked chef I’ve only ever really tried to celebrate the excitement of food, producers, artisans the fact that anyone can cook and that there lives can be greatly enriched by cooking in so many ways… I tried to get the boys back in the kitchen which I think we’ve done fairly well! and raise some important subjects about how we feed kids at school amongst many other things, I never really get a chance to think about the effect of that over 25 years since the naked chef, I genuinely do find it quite extraordinary that I get to do the job that I do and that I have a privilege to hopefully inspire anyone in anyway shape and form I also pinch myself most days actually… what I do know is it good food producers and artisans are always good people! it’s never an easy living doing things the right way.. it’s never an easy pound to be earned not cutting corners….& we are lucky to have these precious farmers-producers- craftspeople in our world…a few years ago I had some of my dearest knives stolen so I had to start my collection from scratch again 🙏🏼 in the other picture you can see a cracking knife from and some others which I’ll have to find the links to but anyway big love thank you Richard and thank you for delivering it 👏
