Well……The Man the Shore Summit proved otherwise. We DID IT!
Over 300 young men came to and experienced mentorship, leadership, brotherhood, accountability, and love. They learned about identity, wellness, financial literacy, leadership, legacy, and purpose, surrounded by Black and Brown men who poured into them, challenged them, and believed in them.
And our boys rose to the occasion.
Many of these young men can now see themselves as future teachers, educators, mentors, and leaders because they saw men who looked like them standing in front of them doing the work.
I’m grateful to direct and lead this initiative, but I truly could not do this alone. This work takes a village. I’m simply a vessel walking alongside incredible brothers, educators, mentors, and community leaders committed to uplifting the next generation.
When we create ecosystems of love, structure, high expectations, and support, our young men don’t break, they flourish.

This summit reminded me that the work is always bigger than programs, events, or pictures. It’s legacy work. It’s village work. It’s fatherhood.
My prayer is that these experiences shape them for life, that they grow into strong, grounded, compassionate men who understand the value of character, leadership, brotherhood, and purpose. I pray they continue to see me model what it means to be a present, intentional Black father.
And even when I’m not around, I want my boys to always know that I will make sure they are surrounded by high-quality men who will help guide them, sharpen them, protect them, and pour into them.
Man the Shore was never just for everybody else’s sons. It’s for mine too.
Because I refuse to dedicate my life to pouring into young men and forget the ones waiting for me at home.
