My birthday has always been one of the best days of the year for me, not because of the attention (ok maybe a little because of the attention 🙃) but mainly because I’m reminded of how much I’m loved by all the people that I love. All Love. Remy Day. Missing so many here ❤️
With my favourite people ❤️

When life was simple and I was in love #2016 first 6 months #part1 #adecade
Let’s get to the good part, and pass all the nonsense 😴
Just going to spit out some random thoughts on how I’m feeling lol

No effort, just thoughts

This will be the third time Im going through “the holidays” without him and with grief in my heart

Honestly, it never gets easier to have to go through things without him, but this time around I don’t feel the pressure to celebrate, have plans, or fear being alone

I feel content just doing my own thing
Working on my own things
Focusing on my business stuff, doing things for just me and my goals, my own purpose

The holidays don’t always have to be celebrated

It’s totally okay to not want to do anything
Not to put that pressure on yourself to show up for things
Or events/outings
For other people
Or make something of it
To just treat it like a regular day
A regular set of days

And do things that bring you joy
Even if it’s small

This year, I’m happy to say that I don’t feel that pressure anymore

Or feel like I’m alone during the holidays
Because the only person I want to spend it with is not here
And the person I spent it with for the last decade + with is not here
I wish he was here but it’s out of my control and it is what it is

I just feel like this is my life and I choose what I want to do with it

I’m going so easy on my self

So if I want to ignore certain days, I will

That’s how I feel this year 😂
Does that mean I’m healing

Maybe, maybe not

Feeling sad but also feeling calm

Feeling nonchalant🎄

Comment below if you can relate and how you are feeling during this holiday season!
Have you guys ever been to the bathroom in the middle of a night out or a party and you realize how drunk you really are?

I have, multiple multiple times lol

Your on the toilet peeing, or your looking in the mirror at yourself just smiling

Those moments used to be one of my favourite moments

Because it wasn’t just about realizing how drunk I was

It was about getting away from the fast paced world out there, having a moment to yourself, to take it all in

To be present

And why those moments used to be my favourite is because most of the time I’m having the best time

I’m with my friends, I’m with my BEST friend, & my family

I realize how much fun I’m having
I’m grateful for everything that I’m experiencing

Whether I’m in Toronto
Vancouver
On a trip
At cottage
At a party
In a restaurant bathroom somewhere in Vegas lol
Where ever I was
I was grateful and happy

Because I had the best people around me and I had the best person with me

My heart would feel so full and uplifted

I would physically feel my heart jumping for joy lol

It was like a reflex

Present day, I’m at a party, or at a restaurant, I’m with my friends, I’m smiling, laughing with them

I go to use the bathroom, the same thing happens

I’m present again

I’m trying to have a moment with myself

My heart tries to jump up, the reflex kicks in

But, shit

Now when it happens

It feels like my heart is too weak to jump and on top of that

There’s a wall right above it that kicks it back down when it tries

I can physically feel it trying because that’s what it’s used to, but it can’t go there anymore, to the place it once went so easily

Now, it’s too weak and broken and on top of that, there’s this big ceiling, stopping its way

I hope one day, it can break this wall, this ceiling that has appeared in my heart the day he died

I hope one day my heart will be strong enough to jump for joy again

Grief is weird because while I’m hoping for all of this, I’m also hoping that it never goes back, that it never heals, because why should it without him here?

It wouldn’t make any sense?

But I’m trying anyway, and slowly I’m breaking that wall 🤍🙏🏽

30 months in

It’s been quite some time now living without him
You’d think that the human brain would adjust and be used to it by now

You know what’s still the hardest?

It’s not the milestone days, or even their death days, or birthdays as people would think

The quiet

The quiet moments are the hardest

Mornings and nights

Waking up knowing that you won’t see them that day, any day, or talk to them, ever

Waking up knowing that they arnt breathing like you are, that they arnt atleast alive in some corner of the earth

Pissed that you woke up and that they didn’t

Nights

Going to sleep, not cuddled up against him, or on the phone with him, or FaceTime with him

But by yourself
Alone
Afraid of the dark, afraid of the quiet

Afraid of that moment between awakeness and sleep

Trying to find anything else, anything, to think about that doesn’t make everything seem so bleak

Everything else in-between?

The same

Keeping yourself busy so you don’t think, so you don’t have to think about the fact that you will never see them again

Hoping, praying, you fall asleep reading
Or watching a show

Surrounding yourself with people so you’re constantly distracted.

This is grief. This is grief several months in. 30 to be exact

Am I always going to be afraid of the dark and quiet?

Am I always going to be afraid of my own thoughts?

I don’t know, this is grief 💔
