We're over the moon! πŸŒ• #CanFilmDay 2026 was bigger than we could have dreamed. ☁️

What an incredible day! Tens of thousands of people came out to more than 2000 events, and millions tuned in at home. People gathered in every province and territory and in more than 49 countries to celebrate Canadian films and filmmakers.

And it's all thanks to YOU! People who love and support Canadian film and show up to prove it. Ordinary Canadians and people including Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, broadcaster George Stroumboulopoulos, Members of Parliament Leslie Church and Jean Yip, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who all took a moment to watch a Canadian film, talk about Canadian film, and share their thoughts on Canadian culture.

And that's not all! Over 150 special guests came out to share their experiences and knowledge and enrich events for audiences around the world. People like Philippe Falardeau, Miranda de Pencier, Robert Bateman, Hubert Davis, Ali Hassan, Colm Feore, Miryam Charles, Mathieu Denis, KawennΓ‘here Devery Jacobs, Guy Maddin, Bruce McDonald, Don McKellar, Eva Thomas, and so many more. (And don't forget Maurice the Moose, he would never miss the party!)

Not to mention the thousands of people around the world who worked hard so the power of film could entertain, scare, amuse, move, share, and teach audiences.
