A fisheye lens is not what you think it is.
Most photographers avoid it. Too dramatic. Too distorted. A gimmick.
But there are situations where nothing else comes close. The full sweep of a packed dance floor. An entire decorated hall in one frame. The scale of a moment that a regular lens simply cannot hold.
The TT Artisan 11mm f/2.8 does this beautifully — and it handles low light, which is everything at events.

Stop waiting for golden hour. There is another way.
My new video is about what filters actually do to meaningful photography. Not just the technical side but the creative and intentional side.
A polarizer that cuts through glare and reveals the real color of the Sea of Galilee. An ND filter that turns a midday fountain into silk. The same principle applied to moving people on a street in full daylight.
And the honest truth that I am naturally impatient, always rushing, and these filters force me to slow down in a way that makes my photography better every single time.

One of the most meaningful photography experiences I was involved in this year involved a young boy.

My thirteen-year-old grandson.

This video is about what happens when you stop teaching and start being present with someone and a camera. The mistakes, the film frames that didn't work, and the ones that stopped me completely. And, the bonding and connecting time together.

If there is someone in your life you could share photography with — this one is for you and for them.

Tonight is Yom Yerushalayim, Jerusalem Day, and I've been sitting looking at my images from over the years, thinking about what this city means to me.

I've walked these streets so many times, camera in hand, and I'm still stopped in my tracks. By this miracle that is Jerusalem. By the light on the stones. By a child running through an alley. How two strangers from completely different worlds are walking and shopping on the same streets.

Jerusalem is home. It's our capital. And it's a place where, at its best, every person can come, pray, and belong.

These are some of my favorite human images from the city I love. From my capital. A few of them are available as fine art prints if you'd like to bring a piece of Jerusalem into your home, PM/DM.

What's your connection to Jerusalem? I'd love to hear it in the comments.
She turned 100 years old.

The party was in her daughter's apartment. Small. Crowded. Barely enough room to lift my arms.

My first thought? This is going to be hard.

My second thought changed everything.

Instead of fighting the space, I started reading it. The narrow hallway became a frame. The white walls threw soft light onto every face in the room. And the closeness, the unavoidable, can't-back-up closeness, gave me something no large hall could provide. Wrinkled hands reaching for grandchildren. Four generations squeezed into one sofa. A quiet smile between a daughter and her mother, one hundred years in the making.

The limitation was the gift. I just had to stop seeing it as a problem first.

This is what I love about life event photography. You don't control the space. You don't control the light. You don't control who cries or when or where the best moment happens. You just have to be ready to find what the situation gives you,and trust that it will give you something.

If you have a moment coming that matters — a milestone birthday, a family gathering, an anniversary — I'd love to be there with you.
DM me.

P.S. Thankfully I got my own photo with Renee. What a gift to be in the same space as such a kind and positive woman

The moment I stopped trying to get the shot, I actually got it.
I was in the Christian Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City with an Armenian potter named George and a writer named Therese. And instead of working the scene, I just... stayed. Talked. Let myself be there.
That's the whole secret of street photography that nobody tells you. It's not about being invisible. It's about being real.
This short is part of a four-episode series on street photography — and the full video brings all the ideas together in a way I haven't said before.

We sold out. We laughed. We bonded. We breathed in the desert air and came home different.

Our Re:Treat Your Soul retreat in Mitzpe Ramon was everything we hoped it would be and more. Yoga, breathwork, mindfulness circles, journaling, running/walking along the rim of the crater, a photography workshop, stunning surroundings, delicious food, and women who showed up fully — from all over the country, all different ages, all ready to be there.

After our photography workshop, I was able to capture some informal desert portraits of the beautiful women.

We are so grateful.

We are already planning the next few retreats.

Save the date for the upcoming one: July 15. Details and early registration coming very soon.
Everyone is invited; and for those of you who live overseas, also stay tuned. We have some retreats planned for Israel as well as for outside Israel. All are invited.

Follow along so you don't miss it.

Mind. Body. Connection.
Most people think a fisheye lens is just a gimmick.

But at an event? It can completely transform the way the evening feels in a photograph.

Instead of isolating moments, it pulls the viewer into the room:
the dancing, the crowd, the atmosphere, the energy.

I’ve been using the TTArtisan 11mm f/2.8 fisheye and honestly, for certain situations, it creates images no other lens can.

This reel focuses on events, but in the full video I also talk about using a fisheye for street photography, portraits, landscapes, video, and storytelling.
