Time for a reintroduction!! 🫶🏼😚📖☀️

My name’s Emma and I started the account 5 years ago this year!!

Some of my favourite books are:
•bunny
•people of abandoned character
•wild dark shores
•the god of the woods
•Carrie Sotto is back
•strange pictures

to name a few, I read pretty much anything except fantasy 🤭 no ons managed to convince me yet

I’m 23, work at a charity in London and am currently half way through renovating my first home!!

I love going to the cinema, Hugo spritz’, going for a coffee and sleeping in on the weekends because I’ve been up too late reading, obvs

Thanks for coming to my small corner of the bookish internet & I hope you stick around!

#qotd what is one book to screen adaptation you need to see happen?!
A comprehensive guide to audiobooks 🎧🫶🏼📖

I first started listening to audiobooks 2 years ago and haven’t looked back!! I still read majority physical copies but certain centres and times just call for an audio

Current listen: Careless People, a story of where I used to work

•memoirs, if they are read by the author, are ALWAYS elevated by listening
•cleaning the house or at the gym, made better with audiobooks
•long walks, audiobooks
Do you get my drift??

I’ve collated a few of my favourites, as well as those I’m excited to get to this year to give you some recommendations.

I have always used, and after trying some others (cough cough Amazon) it’s come out on top!!

It’s done by hours rather than credits so I can always listen to lots of books each month, they have so many new releases and it has a user friendly app

If you want 90 days of FREE audiobooks, you can use the link in my bio or use my code: readsbyemma when making your account!!

(you can cancel the free trial any time! 🤭)

Thank you to BookBeat for providing me with a code to share 🫶🏼

💬 #qotd if you could only recommend 1 audiobook, what would it be?
Strange Buildings by Uketsu, coming February 2026 💡

…..which gives you a month to make sure you’ve read strange pictures and strange houses. Both amazing

The stories unfold through a series of conversations, floor plans, drawings, letters. All drip feeding small clues to what always ends up being a much bigger (& darker) picture 🩸

Books 1 and 2 were disturbing, addictive and easily made Uketsu a favourite author of mine. If you want to love horror, translated fiction or are just looking for a fast paced read… look no further

Thank you for this early copy!!

💬#qotd which has been your favourite so far??

inspo - queen of horror,

I read more books than ever before and really focused on booked I was excited about and boy did it pay off.

I had SUCH a hard time narrowing some of these down, hence the honourable mentions page 🤭

My favourite book was Wild Dark Shores by, i snuck this in as one of my last December reads and it instantly took top spot

The other 9 in no particular order:
🎾 Carrie soto is back
🌊 The wedding people
🐟 Strange pictures
💓Funny story
🌲The god of the woods
☀️The compound
🍰 Petty lies
💀 Victorian psycho
🐀 Julie Chan is dead

let me know if you’ve read any of these and what books made your list last year 🫶🏼

#qotd how similar is our reading taste?!
My current bedside table 🫐🧋🎧

I am nosy & so love seeing what other people keep by their bed,
I’ve always got my planner & sunset lamp, and usually a half drunk drink, jewellery I took off the night before & some random things I used that day 🌙

💬what is something you always have with you?
The vegetarian - review & quotes 🥩

This book follows the protagonist as she turns vegetarian following a series of horror filled dreams and how this simple act of independence causes a chain reaction of negative responses from her family and friends in light of Korean society and the expectations that it carries,

The books jumps from different perspectives to psychosis driven visions, sexual exploration and violent outbursts, it’s feminist, it’s dark, it’s exactly what I love in a book packed into under 200 pages 🤩

Read if you like:
•horror books
•translated fiction
•a feminist narrative
•dark subject matter

This books is quite graphic in parts so check TWs online if you feel the need before reading 🤝🏼📖☕️

💬have you read this book?? What did you think xxx
Choose your fighter// b&w edition 🖤🦢

Black’s my winner this time based on the covers & the books themselves, which would you choose?? 💬
