After fainting in a corporate meeting and being rolled out on a stretcher, I knew something had to change. I couldn’t stay in an environment that drained me mentally, emotionally, and physically. 😞
So I moved into the bank as a Teller. A job with more movement, more people, and a little more energy. It helped… but it still wasn’t me. My brain still felt boxed in and unfulfilled. 🏦
What I didn’t know back then was that my undiagnosed ADHD needed something completely different: movement, creativity, conversation, stimulation, transformation. ⚡️🎨
Then came cosmetology and suddenly everything clicked. 💇🏾♂️✨
The salon gave me what school and corporate never could: a space where my brain could breathe, create, connect, and thrive.
The same traits that held me back in classrooms and cubicles became my superpowers behind the chair. 🔥
For the first time in my life, I didn’t feel “behind.”
I felt aligned.
Confident.
Purposeful.
At home. 🤎
And yet… I still didn’t know why this world made sense while everything else drained me.

Before I ever picked up a pair of shears, I picked up a corporate job that slowly drained the life out of me. 💼
After dropping out of college, I took what I thought was the “safe” route; a quiet office job at Wells Fargo. Cubicle, computer, silence. I didn’t know it then, but quiet was one of my biggest challenges. 🤫
One afternoon in 2009, our team meeting room was packed. I gave up my seat for a woman who was standing, which left me standing for the entire meeting. As my manager spoke, everything started to blur. His words turned into noise. My vision faded. My body felt heavy.
I stepped into the bathroom, splashed water on my face, and told myself to “get it together.”
I walked back in… stood there… and the next thing I remember was waking up on the floor.
The medics we called and they rolled me out on a stretcher in front of everyone. 🤦🏾♂️
I was embarrassed. Confused. And scared. I had no idea what was happening inside of me.
Today, I understand it:
Undiagnosed ADHD + overstimulation + silence + pressure + standing still = my body shutting down.
But that moment forced me to make a change. One that would eventually lead me into the beauty world, the only place my brain ever felt like it could breathe.

Before the beauty industry changed my life, I spent years thinking something was wrong with me. 🧠
In high school, I didn’t realize my likability was giving me grace I didn’t even know I needed. But when I got to college, that grace didn’t follow me. Suddenly everything felt harder; focusing, retaining information, keeping up, staying motivated. And the more I struggled, the more I blamed myself. 😔
By junior year, I dropped out. Not because I didn’t care, but because I was overwhelmed by something I couldn’t see, name, or explain. 📉
What I didn’t know then was that undiagnosed ADHD was quietly shaping every part of my life… including the path that would eventually lead me into the beauty industry, the only place my brain ever felt like it could breathe. 💇🏽♀️💨
