Największym wyzwaniem tego projektu nie były kwestie techniczne – choć wzmocnienie glinianej posadzki, która dosłownie się rozpadała, czy ukrycie instalacji klimatyzacyjnych bez zakłócania postrzegania przestrzeni nie były zadaniem łatwym – lecz koncepcyjne. „Przeniesienie tych przestrzeni do teraźniejszości bez pozbawiania ich aury przeszłości było naprawdę trudne. Techniki można się nauczyć, wrażliwości – nie”, mówi Sánchez.

La considerable complejidad técnica de la intervención deja paso a que la sala vuelva a lucir su antiguo esplendor, pero no como una pieza de museo anclada en un pasado ideal que la mayoría de las veces nunca existió, sino como un espacio que reconoce su pasado y su historia (sin maquillar, las cicatrices son reales) y los transporta a la contemporaneidad.

A statement on heritage intervention:
The considerable technical complexity of the intervention ultimately recedes, allowing the room to recover its former splendour, not as a museum piece anchored to an idealized past that most often never existed, but as a space that acknowledges its past and histoy (no make-up, real scars) carrying them into the present.

La de un corsario que regresa en 1865 tras una vida en el mar y transforma dos viviendas en un pequeño palacio doméstico. Con el tiempo, todo se diluye. Pero sus descendientes deciden adaptarla a sus nuevas necesidades.
La intervención de no intenta recuperar una imagen perdida, sino entender qué hacer con lo que queda. Tres estancias bastan para reorganizar esta casa histórica: vestíbulo, comedor y sala principal. Una única estructura de acero inoxidable articula el espacio y define nuevos usos sin imponerlos.
La clave está en cómo conviven los tiempos. El acero no sustituye, sino que dialoga. Refleja, enmarca, ordena. Las grietas se quedan. Los papeles pintados también. La casa no se restaura: se acepta. Y en ese equilibrio, vuelve a ser habitable.
