Yesterday we spent the afternoon in Old San Juan with our friends Jossie and Myriam from Aventuras Yuiza… and honestly, it reminded me how much history is hiding in plain sight here in Puerto Rico. 🇵🇷

We filmed a new video filled with fascinating stories, historical details, and little things most people walk right past without ever noticing.

For someone like me who genuinely loves Puerto Rico’s history and Old San Juan, this was such a treat. I learned a lot yesterday.

Huge thanks to Myriam and Jossie for sharing so much knowledge, passion, and love for our island with us.

This is definitely a video I want to prioritize editing because I think a lot of people are going to enjoy it.

🎥 Make sure to check out our YouTube channel (link in bio) because this Old San Juan video is coming soon.

As my friends and visited San Juan aboard the MSC World America, I got invited by Caitlin, Nathan,, and to experience the and learn more about the history behind.

The day turned into one of those experiences you don’t really expect. New friendships, learning more about the haunt entertainment industry, hearing creative stories, and also seeing firsthand the incredible work Robert and Yahaira are building with in Caguas.

Working from home most days means my routine tends to stay pretty consistent, and honestly I’m grateful for that. But yesterday was one of those refreshing reminders of how important it is to break routine once in a while and experience something different.

Huge thanks to Yahaira, Caitlin, Robert, and Nathan for the invitation and for creating such a memorable experience for all of us.
Our home Puerto Rico always finds new ways to surprise me, even as a local.
We just booked our Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets today… and this is EXACTLY why we keep coming back 👻✨

These special character moments don’t just show up every day… they *materialize* during the party.

Madame Renata at Haunted Mansion? 🔥
One of those blink-and-you-miss-it experiences that make the night feel completely different from a regular park day.

That’s honestly the main reason we go every year.

🎃 If you’re thinking about going this year and want help getting tickets (or planning it right), send me a message

Would you stop for this… or run the other way? 😅

A few weeks ago shared her love for pan sobao… and we knew exactly where we had to go 🥖🇵🇷

Everyone has that one panadería that just feels like home.
For me, it’s this.

Growing up in Connecticut, summers in Ponce meant evening runs for fresh pan caliente… and this brought it all back.

La Imperial never misses.
Daniela knew what time it was the second we walked in 😅

👉 This was just ONE stop from our full visit to Ponce
We shared everything — what we loved, what surprised us, and what we wouldn’t do again

I spoke with Juan Segarra Palmer for years…
without fully knowing his story.

Then I read La Historia de un Machetero.
Then I saw those conversations differently.

What happened in Ponce wasn’t just a book presentation.
It was a space where history, perspective, and lived experience came together in one room.

From Juan, to Julio Fontanet, to and others, this was a conversation that carries weight.

You could feel it in the room.
Not just in what was said… but in how people listened.

That’s part of why I document moments like this.
So these conversations don’t stay in one place.

Puerto Rico’s history isn’t always simple.
And it’s not always told the same way.

But being present, listening, and sharing is how we start to understand it better.

Seeing some of today’s comments reminded me of my first day working at a Big 4 accounting firm in New York City.

An older woman — who today would probably wear a MAGA hat — used to call me “Ricky Ricardo.”

To her, I was the only Latino she had ever worked with, and apparently, the only reference point she had was a musician and comedian from the 50's.

Fast forward to today, and I see the same type of ignorance in the way some people are mocking — Benito Martínez Ocasio.

The problem with many Gringos — even the so-called allies — is they expect the world to learn about their artists, but they don’t make the effort to understand ours.

They wear their cultural ignorance like a badge of honor, proudly saying they’ve never heard of Bad Bunny — one of the most streamed artists on the planet — as if that makes them superior.

If I hadn’t developed a deep love for music, art, and culture — from everywhere — I’d probably feel as disconnected as they do.

But I grew up curious.

I discovered Country music in a Bootcamp in Kentucky.

I heard my first Bluegrass band in the deep South.

I fell in love with Edith Piaf, Sinatra, and Dean Martin in my 20s.

I learned about Tupac,, Biggie,,,,,, Johnny Cash (a real ally), and even Sonny and.

I’ve always embraced all kinds of music.

That’s what culture is — an exchange, not a hierarchy.

So if you’re one of those people making jokes about not knowing who
Bad Bunny is…

Ask yourself: Are you really being funny, or are you exposing your privilege and cultural apathy?

Because whether you realize it or not,
That attitude is why MAGA continues to thrive.

You don’t have to like Bad Bunny — but if you mock his existence, it says more about you than him.

Check your privilege. Then turn down the prejudice.
