I remember telling myself: âI just need more power behind my swing.â So I kept training hard. Taking massive daddy hacks. Doing everything I could. But I still felt like a good hitter with average pop.
And honestly? It made me question if I had enough to do it in college.
Hereâs what I wish someone taught me then:
Your training is incomplete. You need rotational movements, youâre a ROTATIONAL ATHLETE.
See, I thought I just needed to work harder and do more. But my body couldnât create AND control power at the same time. I didnât have a system in place to build power the right way.
Loaded rotation builds the explosion (med ball throws, landmine work).â¨Anti-rotation keeps it stable (offset farmers carry, split-stance holds).
Without both? Your swing leaks power. It falls apart when youâre tired. You feel stuck no matter how much you grind.
The part that wouldâve changed everything for me? The right amount of volume in a structured program to lift in-season.
1â2 sessions a week. Lighter work to maintain it. Stopping before my energy is cooked.
Thatâs it. Not another two-hour workout. Just the right work.
If youâre that kid right now, working hard but still feeling average this is your answer.

In high school I worked hard. I showed up to practice, I did what I was told but every season I still had the same struggles.
By midseason I was tired, my body would be sore and my swing started feeling slow.
Some days I felt good, and others I didnât.
That inconsistency got frustrating.
I wasnât lazy I just had no system to fall back on. So I was stuck trying to âguessâ how to fix it. Looking back, hereâs what I should have been doing:
đšInseason lifting that keeps you strong without burning you out
đšA hitting routine to stay sharp
đšA nutrition plan so youâre not gassed by the 5th inning
đšMobility work that actually keeps you loose and ready
đšA mental approach so one bad game doesnât spiral into a bad week
Thatâs the system I wish I had.
So you donât have to learn it the hard way.

đSYSTEMđ
If you think practice is enough to keep you sharp, I thought the same thing. I showed up. I worked hard. But all I did was what we did at practice and most practices are rushed, poorly run, and donât prepare you for the grind of a season.
Outside of practice? I had no structure. No routine. No system keeping me ready day after day.
When you donât have a routine, every day feels like starting over. You overthink your approach. You stress about what to work on. You wonder which version of yourself will show up.
Talent helps. Effort helps. But routines keep you sharp when games stack up and your body gets tired.
The players who stay consistent arenât more talented at being consistent. They just have a system that removes the guesswork.

You spent all off-season building power. Donât let it waste away in a couple of months.
Inseason lifting isnât optional. Itâs how you stay the same hitter in June that you were in March.
đWhat to train:
â Keep it heavy, keep it short (2-3x/week, 30-40 min)
â Lower body power (trap bar deadlifts, box jumps..etc)
â Explosive upper body (med ball slams, push press..etc)
Same moves as your offseason but in less volume. Youâre not trying to add strength. Youâre maintaining what you built.
The guys who stay dangerous all season? They never left the weight room.
Comment đPOWERđ for a simple plan you can run between games.

In high school, I was well conditioned but midseason my power always dropped. I was a good hitter⌠but as the season went on, I felt weaker.
I did this for years and didnât realize what was missing until it was too late.
Donât make the same mistake. Do this instead đđ˝
Set up a system to đMAINTAINđpower inseason: đ¸Get this system set up ASAP
đšExplosive strength using methods like the contrast method. Lower volume but enough to maintain.
đšRotational power through loaded & anti-rotation work. Work your non dominant side more since youâre getting plenty of rotation throughout the season on your dominant side.
đšBarrel accuracy with a hitting routine that creates consistent hard contact. Practice honestly doesnât give you enough time to work through your swing.
đšEAT GOOD: Nutrition is even more important as you take on more of a workload.
Doing this back the would have completely changed my career. Lets keep your power all season đđŞđ˝

You worked all offseason to get your power up and add exit yelo. First few games? Youâre a different hitter. The ball jumps. Coaches notice. Scouts take notes.
Remember that feeling?
By mid season itâs dying at the warning track. Youâre more tired. That swing feels slower. You convince yourself itâs just a few rough games. But then it happens again. And again...While other players are still barreling up. Youâre stuck wondering what happened to you. Letâs not make the same mistake this year.
Hereâs how you stay dangerous all season:
đŞđ˝Keep lifting inseason:
Strength doesnât pause because games started. If you stop, you lose it.
đTrain rotation smarter (lower volume).â¨Youâre swinging in games now. Rotation work should sharpen you, not drain you.
đĽFuel your body for real recovery.
Gas station snacks between games wonât cut it. Your body needs fuel to stay explosive.
đ§ Win the mental game daily.
Short memory. Simple approach. Same mentality every single day.
Donât spend all winter building power just to watch it fade by April.

Talent matters, but as you move up in levels EVERYONE HAS TALENT.
Players like Shohei Ohtani didnât just rely on ability. They mapped out what it would takeâŚhow to train, how to practice, how to recover.
Thatâs why theyâre consistent when the season gets hard.
The players who hold it together arenât guessing they have the right systems in place.
If you donât build it now, the season will expose it later.

đŹThe frustration of watching from the sidelines, the mental battles that hit harder than any physical pain, the fear that maybe you wonât come back the same.
â ď¸ I know so many of you have felt this too. But hereâs what injury really taught me: resilience isnât about never falling apart. Itâs about showing up when motivation is gone. Itâs trusting the process when progress feels invisible. Iâm not where I want to be yet, but Iâm not giving up. Every small win counts. Weâre built for comebacks

â ď¸Youâre crushing it in high school. Getting your hits. Making plays.
đ¸Then you show up to a college showcaseâŚ
And you realize: everyone here hits hard. Everyoneâs fast. Everyoneâs been âpretty goodâ their whole life.
đThe difference? The guys getting offers arenât just talented theyâre developed. They didnât hope their swing would hold up. They built it to last.
Hereâs what separates committed players from overlooked ones:
đ¸Strength that shows up in your swing: Not random workouts. A system that builds speed, power, and explosiveness where it matters.
đ¸Barrel accuracy: Hard contact isnât luck. The better you control your barrel, the more damage you do.
đ¸Rotational power: Your legs + core + timing working together. This is what turns normal contact into elite power.
đ¸A hitting routine you actually stick to: Not random reps. Intentional reps. Quality over quantity.
đBecause hereâs the truth:
A lot of players are good. But college coaches want hitters who can do damage and stay consistent through an entire season.
Donât let your talent get wasted because you didnât prepare your body to match it.
