Niigata might be known for their Koshihikari rice and their crisp dry sake, but let me tell you about my favorite place in Niigata called Murakami! It was developed as a port and castle town by samurai clans during the Edo period. In the 1700s, is said to have become the first place in the world to propagate salmon. This hidden gem is known for their traditional salmon drying skills thatโs been passed down through traditions. Youโll often see salmon hanging down from localโs rooftops. One of my favorite things while here is get butt naked and get in one of their famous onsen spots. Since itโs a coastal town, locals will produce their own sea salt, which is perfect for shio ramen after a chilly day. After getting a haircut at B Loom, got to enjoy a few bowls at Niboshi Majin located inside one of the Aeon malls. Donโt be fooled by the location inside a mall. This place pack all kinds of umami bomb. Thank you, Murakami!
