This book edited by Michael Scuyt, Joost Elffers and George R. Collins is an immersion into the world of eccentrics who created their own architecture.
From eccentric little shacks to city masterplans and everything in-between, great artists and architects such as Dubuffet, Dali, Soleri, and Christo have let their imaginations roam to produce extraordinary spaces.
Perhaps most intriguing are the little-known structures built of unusual materials by unknown people: sand castles, ice sculptures, dwellings made of discarded bottles, aluminum cans...
The aim of this book is to depict houses and surroundings built with complete freedom of fantasy, and conforming to no aesthetic codes.
Do (not) try this at home.

This is a very hard to find hardcover book collecting the work of legendary Japanese designer Ikko Tanaka (1930-2002).
A beautiful and rare publication, the first and only edition, featuring his classic “Pyramid” artwork of the slipcase.
The book opens with a foreword by Lou Dorfsman (because real recognize real) then covers Tanaka’s incredible output from his early poster work in the 1950s to the corporate identity and logo designs of the 1970s, and his most famous posters in the 1970s.
We usually don’t post too many images from the books we sell but it was impossible to pick only 5, so swipe away!

The most cherished piece of our collection of OSPAAAL posters is without a doubt this original portrait of Patrice Lumumba, by the Cuban artist Rafael Enriquez Vega.
Made for the poster commemorating the 20th anniversary of his assassination in 1981, it is drawn in black ink on card.
On the back, the simple mention « aprobado » (« Approved » in Spanish) and the date of December 2nd 1980 written with ballpoint pen give us a timeframe of the production process of this historic poster.

The Radical Media Archive Exhibition is a tribute to the graphic and political underground press of the past. An invitation to rethink the role of publishing in present and future social movements.
From the 1960s to the late 70s, the world was on fire. The national liberation movements, May 1968, the American war in Vietnam, and the feminist, anti-colonial, anti-racist, and student uprisings painted a vivid map of protest.
Voices rose against the establishment in newspapers emerging from a counterculture that rejected conformity, embraced experimentation, and invented new ways of living, thinking, and resisting.
Driven by DIY ethos, it used offset, mimeograph, and photocopy for quick, cheap production. Layouts were collage-like, handmade with scissors, glue, typewriters, and Letraset, challenging mainstream design. They created an alternative media economy, often cooperative or outside mainstream systems.
The Underground Press Syndicate enabled publications to reprint each other’s work. An early open-source journalism network, it was decentralized, anti-hierarchical, with over 200 titles and millions of readers worldwide.
That pre-internet world of print, protest, and typography-as-revolt has fascinated Ramdane Touhami since the 1990s. Today, this fascination gives birth to a foundation: The Radical Media Archive.
A project dedicated to preserving and sharing alternative press, graphic publications, revolutionary art, and utopian design. For this initiative, Ramdane partnered with Émile Shahidi, a kindred spirit obsessed with visual culture and movements of collective emancipation.
This exhibition shows titles from Oakland to Milan, Paris to New York, Sydney to London, embodying the union of struggle and design.
