Then there are the quieter references — warm timber, low profiles, casual skirts and intentional lighting. It’s less about trends, more about temperature, tone, and restraint. A collection of rooms that prove bathrooms work best when they feel slightly escapist, a bit nostalgic, and just structured enough to disappear into.
Though our clients initially imagined a classic banquette moment, the architecture suggested a more thoughtful solution. In its place, we designed a built-in sofa at the far end of the kitchen — an invitation to linger. A perch for homework before dinner, conversation while something simmers on the stove, or an afternoon pause while brownies bake nearby. The result is a kitchen that balances elegance with ease: highly functional, deeply personal, and designed for the beautiful mess of daily life.

Turned the page and there it was: my work in print. Always a bit of a jolt seeing it outside the studio — everything looks so composed, almost deceptively calm compared to how it actually unfolds in real time.
All the back-and-forth, decisions, and tiny last-minute changes somehow distilled into something clean and complete on the page. It’s a good reminder that projects have a different kind of life once they leave the studio.
We sourced high and low for something but ultimately realized the bookshelf we envisioned did not yet exist in our world. We decided to build it from the ground up. The piece feels like a sculptural object first and storage second, using color almost like a design language in itself. There’s something slightly playful about it too — almost toy-like in the way it’s constructed — but in a way that still manages to feel very intentional and grown-up.
We partnered with to source the stone and bring the bookshelf to life, guiding it from first concept and renderings through to final installation. Watching a fully formed idea sharpen, solidify, and find its way into this project was the ultimate sign of a client trusting the design process.
I found it in ’s work. Her pieces evoke a contemporary interpretation of stained glass, blending structure and softness while seamlessly incorporating elements I’m consistently drawn to — modern forms, tactile materials, and the nuance of the handmade. The result is both visually striking and quietly transformative.
What was once simply a place to work now feels more expansive: a space to think, to pause, to feel grounded. I was looking for something with soul — something that would do more than occupy space, but instead alter the atmosphere of the room. This piece does exactly that.
Maybe it’s your grandmother’s candlesticks (sentimental, slightly opinionated), maybe it’s something you pulled from an antiques stall with a bit too much confidence and no real plan — but either way, that hit of history keeps a room from taking itself too seriously, which is really the point.
When you’re on the hunt:
Look for classic forms in rustic or weathered materials — familiar silhouettes, just with a bit of life lived in them
A ceramic where you can actually see the maker’s hand, especially one with an unexpected glaze, finish, or color, is always a yes
Anything woven in an unusual shape or form will add instant texture and just enough weirdness to make a shelf interesting
Color exists in relation—tone against tone, light against surface, shadow deepening everything it touches.
This is why color theory matters: it shapes how we feel before we understand it, guiding the eye, building balance, and quietly structuring a space.
At Casa Barragán, pink holds warmth, yellow steadies light, and every plane is placed with intent.
Color isn’t a finish—it’s the foundation. Something you move through, not just look at.
Brancusi understood that a room is not filled, it is composed. Polished bronze that holds light, stone that feels softer than it should, forms abstracted until they somehow become more present.
These sculptures don’t decorate, they anchor. They ask for a certain kind of peace at home — less noise, more weight, fewer things, better shapes.
Objects that make a gallery out of the home.
