This pinch-me-it’s-real view is at the top of Nacula Island and has sweeping 360-degree vistas. From craggy volcanic cliffs dropping into sparkling lagoons on one side, to infinite views of the Yasawa Islands stretching south of Nacula on the other, plus the sun setting over endless blue ocean 🌞
The hike can be accessed from either Blue Lagoon Resort or Oarsman’s Bay Lodge. It begins behind Blue Lagoon Resort and meanders up a series of rolling hills. The path is easy to follow, but it’s flanked by long grass and gets steep towards the end. You’ll definitely want sneakers — don’t attempt this one in thongs 🤣
There are boulders scattered throughout the walk that make epic viewpoints. However, the best spot is the third set of boulders right at the top of the peak, although the path does get very overgrown on the last section. From here, you get incredible 360-degree views looking out across the island and down to the bays below 🏝👀
It took us around 2 hours, with plenty of time to stop and soak in the scenery. I’d recommend going for sunset, but don’t forget a torch for the hike back down — it gets dark pretty quickly 🌜

Welcome to Nacula Island in the northern Yawasas, home to Blue Lagoon Resort aka actual paradise 😍
As a solo female traveller, this place was perfect for me! It offers a range of dorms and private rooms, meaning that there's plenty of people to meet.
There's also fun activities such as yoga and jewellery making and free SUPs and kayaks. I headed out on tours to the Sawa-i-Lau caves and on a sunset tube float (with wine 😘).

A UNESCO-listed maze of history, culture and intricately carved wooden doors, all just a few steps from that unreal turquoise ocean 🌊
Stone Town is the heart of Zanzibar, and honestly it deserves a couple of days of your trip to properly soak it in before heading off to the beaches. It’s chaotic, beautiful, emotional and full of stories you don’t expect.

Must do’s
- Get lost in the winding, whitewashed streets. We went with a local guide and I highly recommend it! We learnt a lot about the rich history. Our guide was a legend and you can see him on slide 12!
- Learn about the dark history of the slave trade at the Zanzibar Slave Market Museum. It’s confronting and emotional, but I really believe it’s important we don’t look away from this part of history.
- Head to the seafront at sunset and watch the local life unfold (this was one of my favourite parts 🥹). Expect random flips and gymnastics!
- Take a dhow boat out to nearby Islands. Prison Island is stunning, but just a heads up I personally found the tortoise sanctuary a bit unethical.
🛌 Stay at. It’s right in the centre of all the action, has dreamy ocean views and is literally a Moorish-style palace complete with arched doorways, ornate wooden carvings and fountains!
And it’s right here in the Sunshine State 🕶️
Porcupine Gorge is one of Outback Queensland’s best kept secrets 🤎
This stunning 500-million-year-old canyon sits about 4 hours inland from Townsville… and honestly exceeded all my expectations.
This view of the river carving through the gorge is from the Gorge Lookout ✨
There’s also a hike down to The Pyramid — a giant monolith at the mouth of the gorge — but I’ll share that in the next post 👀

Should have listened to TLC that day and not gone chasing waterfalls. My off track hiking era entered a whole new level of crazy when I brushed my back on the only-stuff-can-kill-you-in-Australia Gympie Gympie stinging tree. Sometimes referred to as the “s—cide plant”, this little bugger injects thousands of tiny silica hairs into your skin that deliver a neurotoxin, causing pain that can feel like being burned and electrocuted at the same time 🥲
It can allegedly linger for weeks, months, even years, randomly flaring up again with touch, cold water or temperature changes and I had A LOT of you messaging me being very concerned 🥹, and sending condolences 🤣 It definitely wasn’t this bad for me and I honestly think you would maybe have to fall first-face into a pit of the stuff for it to be like that. It felt like bad sunburn for a week and now, 9 days post sting, I can only feel it when I scratch and it kind of feels like green ants biting… love that for me 🫠 I did use a wax strip as soon as I came back from the hike.
10/10 do not recommend
0/10 rainforest fairy moment
but 100/10 for the plot 🌿💀
