Rabit is Eric Burton, a Grammy-nominated composer and producer documenting the American South primarily through sound. Based in Houston since the early 2010s and co-founder of genre warping label Halcyon Veil, he draws screwed tape, Southern Gothic vernaculars, and the textures of industrial and club music into slow, immersive interiors. His new album Stranger in a Strange Land (Halcyon Veil, March 2026), included a Lolina collaboration “Southside,” distilling the practice into a sealed environment of tape loops, pressurized bass, and Houston haze.
