I’ve recently gotten a bunch of new friends on here and wanted to say hello! I’m Trent! I’ve been tattooing for 6+ years and work at on the west side of downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.

I grew up in the Midwest. I am an ex-evangelical summer camp counselor and youth group volunteer. Was a public school teacher for 6 years— I taught Spanish to preschooler through seniors in high school. I’ve traveled to a lot of places all over the world.

I’m on that healing journey part of life where I’m facing the difficulties of living with general anxiety disorder/depression and an eating disorder. Not really ashamed of the truth if those things, and very open about how helpful therapy has been for me the last few years. I’m looking forward to so many amazing things creatively this year, and being more active in hiking and paddle boarding with my hubby, doggo, and friends this summer.

My favorite part of tattooing is working creatively to genuinely connect with people’s stories, and finding a way to help others connect with their own bodies more. Fat/body shaming be damned!! Lately I’ve found this way of doing rainbow color blends that remind me of my favorite childhood school supplies.

Work In Progress: I’ve been mixing the feel of a botanical sketch with bold colors to make Lauren’s sleeve. Surprisingly to both of us the Iris’ patterns have quickly become our favorite (which you can’t see on the underarm in this project). The different color veins and stripes make for really beautiful dynamic color pairings and interesting design. I would love to have a couple more large scale floral pieces like this—OOOO, and I’d love to have them be on the lower leg like they are sprouting from your shoes/socks! Let’s talk Belly Tats! There are so many rules society makes up that are absolutely about keeping your self-esteem low and keeping you in the hamster wheel of body “perfection”. Here’s the real truth—your body is perfect just the way it is. Period. No additions. No questions. Your body is YOURS to live in and you’re allowed to do whatever you want to it even if it means going against the grain of social expectations. Belly tattoos are a political statement that you own your body and you’ll do as you please (and also try to not catch feelings from the confidence). Do they hurt? Yes. Self-Harm Scars are often asked to be covered up in tattooing. My perspective is not coming from a place of judgement, but kindness and empathy.
