ARATiのキャンドルは鉱物や海の生き物のような造形で、これが蝋なの！?と目を疑うほどの力強さと美しさ。

奈良の山の上にあるアトリエで、となり同士机を並べ、ものづくりをされている中山さん夫婦。
haathは、ARATiを手がける二郎さんとVANIを手がける佳奈さんが年に一度インドへ行きインドの職人さんたちとものづくりをするブランド。
ご夫婦共にアパレルのお仕事をされていた経験から、インドでオリジナルのお洋服やアクセサリーを作ってもらったり、古いのもを探したり。
haathはヒンドゥー語で「手」という言葉。
インドには素晴らしい手仕事が多く残り、
小さなものから大きなものものまでなんでも作れて無限大なのだそう。
今回はお洋服やバッグ、ピアスやネックレスなどのアクセサリーがたくさん入荷いたしました。

——インドは産業革命後イギリスから綿織物が輸入されることになり、それまで手作業を中心に作られていたインドの綿産業は破壊された。
ガンジーは、「自分たちの暮らしを自分たちで創り出すことが独立につながる」と、糸車で綿糸を紡ぎ、布を織ることこそが本当の独立であると唱えた——
アパレルの世界で働いていた中山二郎さんと佳奈さん。
東日本大震災を機に自分を見つめ、心の声をカタチにして生活していくことを決意。
