The traveling soul needs to navigate itself in a world that is full of evil temptations. These temptations are what the nafs are naturally inclined to. It is easy to fall for them and take the easy way out and take the quick fix, the temporary enjoyment in exchange for the price of the soul. But is it really worth it? Was that one short moment of joy that you achieved by crossing the lines of Allah (ﷻ) worth your heart and soul? It never is.
This world is like a prison for the believer, because in order to get to Paradise we must struggle against ourselves and these temptations; the believer works hard now, then enjoys eternal happiness in the Hereafter. For the one who does not believe and indulges now, then there will be nothing for him to celebrate in the Hereafter.
The question is, what would you rather strive for?
Something short-termed or something that lasts?
To get to Paradise, we must control the nafs, and that is the hardest battle. That is why the reward for this most difficult task, is the best prize of all: Paradise. Don't let Shaytaan keep you away from the right path. Continue fighting, make du'a and always seek protection and forgiveness from Allah (ﷻ).
May Allah (ﷻ) protect us from ourselves and guide us to the straight path. Aameen.
