Welcome to another new board member, Kristopher!

Kristofer Sommerfeld is a passionate puppeteer, builder, and creative arts advocate with a lifelong love for puppetry that began at age 5. He started his journey through puppet ministry at 11 and gained early mentorship from Dale VonSeggen and Dave Privett, developing his craft and understanding of puppet making and ministry. In 2006, he met influential role models like Dave and June Privett, who helped shape his skills. Kristofer's career highlights include a visit to the Jim Henson Company, meeting Kevin Clash, and serving as Vice President and later President of the Fellowship of Christian Puppeteers, roles in which he contributed for many years and now serves on its advisory board. Additionally, he has acquired key assets of Creative Ministries Solutions (formerly One Way Street, Inc.) and the Creative Arts Store, broadening his influence. Today, Kristofer is committed to inspiring others through workshops, conferences, and his creative work in puppetry. Outside of his career, he enjoys traveling with his wife, Amanda. Others have compared him to Walt Disney, Jim Henson, and Milton Hershey.

Scholarship recipients have traveled to France, Belgium, London, the Czech Republic, and other destinations for professional development, either by apprenticing directly or joining a group to learn skills from international masters.
Say hello to new Board Member William Pickford!

William Pickford is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in Entertainment Design. He is a maker of a variety of props, mechanical puppets, dragon eyes and a variety of art and upcycle projects. He had the privilege and opportunity to produce a piece for a Saturday Night Live spoof of The Great American Bake Off. In the past few years, William became involved with the creative world of Puppetry through attending and assisting with regional festivals and the National Festival in 2023 where he met Adam Kreutinger. William has consulted with organizations regarding web design and improvements to content and layout as well as event organization and tech support. Last year William undertook a project of outreach and analysis of issues complicating and frustrating the ability of puppeteers across the country to communicate with each other and the national organization and set out to propose ways to address these issues. William sees the future potential for Puppeteers of America and an exciting home for a new generation of puppeteers.

WOW! Another awesome new board member!

I'm Josiah Fox, and I have been actively performing, teaching, building, and educating others on puppetry for three years since playing with three-dimensional crafts has always been present in my life in some form or fashion. After my passions evolved to include puppetry, I have weaved my artistic and educational studies into a single focused medium that allows me to transcend physical dispositions and see another person's experience through the puppet's storytelling gravity. Exemplified with my culturally responsive puppetry curriculum, I incorporate and embrace an international and hybridized style of puppetry to learn from the collective knowledge of tradition while also developing my own genuine puppets that adapt to the individual scenario. By having a responsive style of puppetry, I have successfully connected with others to bridge language, social, and physical barriers.

Let's welcome Josiah!
