So happy to announce that I’m officially HCPC registered as a Clinical Psychologist in the UK🫡🤩🇬🇧🫶🏼

The HCPC is the only body that licenses Clinical Psychologists to practice in the UK, and I’m so proud and relieved to finally be accepted on the register after so much hard work.. 8 months of waiting, a year of prepping my portfolio and paperwork.. 2 bachelor’s degrees, a master’s degree, two-thirds into completing my PhD, continuous CPD, and a full time job.. It’s been hard, long, and a really personal journey.. but we made it!!!
Endlessly grateful for my family, friends and colleagues, and anyone who supported me❤️❤️❤️
The female urge to do everything! To fly in planes and out of planes; to hop on and off endless trains and exit at unexpected stations -stronger than ever-; to push/pull bags up/down hills literally and metaphorically; to get lost past midnight; to dance under a sky full of stars or to watch a dancing sky; to flip pages and chapters or literally yourself, to move on and away from whatever harms your peace; to let the wind carry you but not to the point of falling; to do activities that thrill your heart and hobbies that speak to your soul; to speak to yourself the same way you speak to the public; to have a voice, to raise awareness, to stand up for yourself and others; to read, learn, write and expand; to research topics, people, and places; to show gratitude to anyone who gave you a chance; to be open to every new adventures; to connect with nature and let nature warm your soul; to put makeup on but let the tears ruin it sometimes; to be raw, real, unfiltered; to embrace vulnerability; to make mistakes and learn from them; to heal, grow, expand; to live with a pinch of uncertainty; to push limits and to stretch yourself every single day; to learn something new everyday and to be generous with your knowledge; to invest in your job and career; to nurture your mind and stimulate your brain; to value time, energy and people; to practice what you preach; to support others and give back to the community; to cry, laugh, sing, shout, and jump; to leave an imprint; to know that you’ve truly lived; to just be unapologetically yourself! Happy women’s day to every woman out there doing SO much without realizing ❤️❤️❤️ #womensday
Not sure if i should say unlocking an old skill or a new skill because this time it’s so different..
Being an ex-gymnast is a challenge. You have to accept that you will not be as good as you were and you have to trust your mind, body and energy. You will physically be unable to rely on a coach, but you will have to learn to trust yourself and your own decisions.

I’ve always admired how our bodies have such muscle memory and that sometimes the only barrier is the mind. Going back to adult gymnastics over 15 years later is a mental challenge rather than a physical one. I know how to do it but the hardest part is to trust myself enough to do it. It’s a journey of self love, self trust and mental stamina. It’s trusting the falls, your decisions and you body. It’s learning to be resilient within the process and training your mind to let go of what you used to be able to do and enjoy doing it differently now. It’s celebrating the little wins, that back then never felt like wins.

Here’s to unlocking an old-new skill every single time; this time by choice and by mental effort 🤍🤸‍♀️
There’s no better way to let go of everything negative in your life than at 13,000 feet above it all, with a smile and an open heart:) Recently I allowed my fears, pain, and anger about the past, present, and future fly right out of my fingertips as I flipped out of a plane above this earth 🌎
The best part is that i didn’t land sitting like the instructions. I landed standing on my feet – just exactly the same way I plan to after a year of frantic things life threw in my direction:)

Here’s what I learnt:
1) The hardest part is giving control to someone else, letting go and trusting that they are responsible for your life and theirs.
2) The best part is accepting that in order to get out of the plane, you have to let go. In order to fly, you have to be willing to let yourself fall. Instead of feeling anxious about life, it is time to truly enjoy life. Instead of trying to control the uncontrollable it was time to embrace the beauty that comes with chance and change. There’s a risk in everything we do. We put our bodies through risks every single day whether by reckless driving, eating, lack of sleep, smoking, drinking, over-working etc.. Everything is a risk. It’s not about the magnitude of the risk but about the calculated risk. Some risks will slowly kill you and some risks will help you re-create life. Choose wisely:)

So.. here’s to feeling microscopic compared to the great wide open:) Who could imagine that in jumping out of an airplane above 7000 years of civilization, I would find some answers to some existential questions... 2025 we are so ready!

October 2022 is when i submitted my first application to my dream PhD program at UoE. I was almost 100% confident I was gonna get in that i decided not to apply anywhere else. I did everything right, -according to myself and many- my statement of purpose was strong, i had a novel research topic and a strong proposal, i was in contact with a supervisor who was interested to work with me, i had the research experience and the necessary grades/pre-requisites. I fulfilled the criteria.
A couple of months later, I was in gouna with my whole family in the resale office and my phone popped a notification email: “Application decision - Edinburgh University”. I quietly went out of the office, sat on this exact spot, opened the email and saw a rejection. I sat here crying for 15 mins by myself.

On their feedback they asked me to contact my potential supervisor and apply again. Two days later, I spoke with her and she explained that: a) despite my strong proposal, the panel did not feel like i humbly expressed my willingness to learn b) rejections in PhD are common because only those who keep trying are the fittest for it.

I took this advice with an open heart, and 4 months later, I applied again and this time i got in:)

Today, exactly 2 years later, I randomly passed by the same spot which i’ve been avoiding.. I realized it’s actually such a special spot because in this little corner my heart broke once only to give room for more development, humbleness and growth.

Life changes when you stop pursuing the things that make others happy.. and focus on what you genuinely want irrespective of how hard it is to get it.

In case you need that today:
a) This is your reminder to open your heart to new learning, and not to show that you know. We actually know so so little and humbleness is wisdom.

b) This is your reminder to pursue your dreams, to be perseverant, rejections are the first step towards acceptance!

c) Some places hold memories and tears and it’s ok to keep them that way. You don’t always need corrective experiences.. sometimes your corrective experience can simply be passing by those places and smiling knowing that you know better and can do better now:)
Due to the restrictive nature of Ramadan, those struggling with Eating Disorders couldve potentially been struggling for the past month.

Very late birthday post! 🎂
I’m so proud of you and us. Against all odds we managed to be a team against the world. We taught each other that our opinions matter. We taught one another how to defend each other. We never forced our beliefs on one another. We always know that if one messes up the other is going to be there.. standing behind.. with all the love in the world to pick up the pieces. No blaming and no judging.. We learnt to trust each others’ decisions. We taught each other that love is unconditional and it’s not possessive.. it’s not always going to be comfortable.. but to love is to allow discomfort.. to love is to set free. I love you and i have your back always and forever ❤️
Worked so hard at night and had so much fun in the morning.. just ended up super sick and lost my phone twice 🤪..
