â Rule number 1:
Moisture is king. This is true whether I am away for just one night or for weeks. One good moisturiser, suited to your skin type, beats the need for a primer and a complex routine - I apply mine to both face and neck
â Rule number 2:
Conditioner beats shampoo. Travelling with your own shampoo bottle is not always practical and if space is tight and I am faced with a choice, a good conditioner trumps shampoo every time. Because you can wash your hair with anything, but you donât want it to feel heavy with or flat with the wrong generic product
â Rule number 3:
Truthfully, you only need 3 make up items - no need to pack the whole makeup bag. Mascara, lipliner and eyeliner. All three can enhance and freshen up your looks. Eyeliner can be used as eye shadow and lip liner can be topped with moisturiser for that healthy tint

â donât try to eat or dance in it
Feminine silhouettes are trending, whether you like it or not and the secret is not just cleavage, but an emphasis on proportions - I chose my waist
While I loved the corset look on me, I am not sure I could last in it for a whole night. Also, with a waist of 69cm, I barely fit into a size Large. But it did give me that Marilyn Monroe feel. Would you try it?

OR country clichĂŠs
Having lived in both France and the UK taught me this: true style is adaptable and versatile, not necessarily trend-led

Whatâs âtoo muchâ in Paris feels âtoo softâ in London, but a beautiful blouse, perfectly cut jeans and a refined finish?
Global. Effortless. Timeless
.
And yes, ballerinas still feel more continental and millennial but they are definitely making a comeback

Zaraâs festive pieces arenât necessarily better or worse than the more expensive ones, but letâs be honest, how many sequin looks do we really wear outside a Christmas party?
.
My take? Choose what makes you feel amazing. And make sure you can picture at least two occasions youâd wear it - because sequins are super unsustainable
.
The risk? Someone might recognise itâs Zara, but thatâs not always a bad thing đ

Truly. When I started posting I was coy about sharing anything truly personal, because this is a fashion account
That said, I do find it important to show you that life is not just about outfit changes in front of a mirror. Clothes are made for living and you donât get a perspective on what is appropriate to wear and what feeling you aim to convey if you donât live a little yourself
This is also partly why I believe that AI and Instagram stylists can give you generic advice, but both outfit inspiration and practical implementation that go that extra mile come from lived in experience. So hereâs my half term cornucopia - palatial settings, British countryside and Shoreditch street art all in one

𧲠One piece that has genuine sentimental value (this is mine)
𧲠One piece that may be out of fashion but is of exceptional quality - tastes, fashion and finances may change but itâs good to have the special item which reminds you what quality is about
𧲠One item that may not be suitable for the every day but reminds you of your fun side - I have a dress I will be telling you more about soon
.
The key is to stick to just ONE or your wardrobe risks becoming a museum, because fashion may repeat itself but with subtle nuance and thereâs a difference between vintage and dĂŠmodĂŠ

To me thatâs boring. I much prefer to recreate the feel and vibe using whatâs available and it doesnât have to be the full branded package

I chose styling as an outlet for my creativity and passion but the most important lessons I learned about style over the years are about being practical in the modern world, where we are bombarded with choice and function on autopilot. Let me know in the poll below if any of these resonate with your experience.

Event styling, be it corporate or special occasion is something I love doing. Here are some tips and rules to get you ready for any event and make you look and feel beautiful:
.
⨠1. Accessory is king: your choice of accessories and footwear is what sets the tone and makes the whole look come together. Too often ladies opt for a beautiful dress which does not make them shine the way they intended due to inappropriately styled clutches or shoes. If budget is an issue, you donât need a branded clutch to look good. Itâs more about overall harmony of style.
.
⨠2. Know where you are going and adapt accordingly. For big events, you are usually given a dress code. Respect it to feel comfortable. If going to a completely new place and with a new crowd, use the tags on social media to find out what other people are wearing and get information on the venue. (Does it have an outside area? Will you be comfortable in stilettos or best to opt for wedges or boots?!) While there will be outliers, the pictures should give you a feel for the place.
.
â¨3. Comfort first: a woman who is uncomfortable about her choices of clothing or footwear is easy to spot. If super high heels are not your thing, or you feel better with trousers on, you can adapt your styling choices accordingly. Confidence is key when getting dressed for events.
