My friend has been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer just before Christmas and has started an intensive treatment to fight this. I want to take a moment to share something deeply personal — something I never expected to share. I’ve always been honest and transparent so it’s only fair I continue to do so.
Just in the last couple of weeks I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer. This has been overwhelming to process especially through the Christmas period, and I’m still finding my footing as I prepare for what I know will be a long and challenging road ahead. While this diagnosis changes many things, one thing it does not change is how much this community means to me. Your trust, encouragement, and support over the past 8 years has shaped not only my work, but my life, and I will carry that with me into this next chapter.
As I begin my treatment on Tuesday and focus on healing, there will be moments when I need to slow down, adjust schedules, or give myself grace in ways I’m not used to. I’m doing everything I can to continue showing up with the care and dedication you all know & deserve, but I also know I’ll need understanding, patience, and kindness along the way. My health and my family are my priority of course and during this time I need to be fully present for them as we navigate these new changes together.
My beautiful friend Nat who many of you know has said yes to coming back for a few months to assist with your events. This has brought me so much comfort as I know you will be in good hands. Of course I will still be a very large part of each event and if I’m having good days you will still see me setting up onsite but on the days I have no strength or energy knowing she will be there gives me peace of mind. There will be jobs I’ll have to say no to depending on various reasons but I will always be transparent with you so please still keep me in mind when booking your future events. I’ve worked way too hard to let my pride and joy slip away so even through it all I will still be present.
