I just knew I was different. I moved through life feeling incomplete like I was always slightly out of place, trying to catch up to a world that didn’t quite make sense to me. I felt deeply. I was emotional. I struggled to connect. And for a long time, I truly believed something was wrong with my brain, how I thought, how I felt, how I experienced life.
Finding out there was a word for me was exhilarating. It was relief. And it was unbearably enlightening. It felt like the wind was knocked out of me, like I couldn’t breathe.
And somehow… like I was breathing for the first time.
For the first time, my experiences had language. My struggles had context. My life finally made sense. And with that understanding, I learned something even more important: I deserve grace. I deserve acceptance. I deserve accommodations. I am allowed to ask for what I need.
Before that, I was often taken advantage of and manipulated into situations I didn’t fully understand or feel comfortable with. I was afraid to ask questions, afraid of being seen as annoying or combative, when in reality I was just trying to learn and make sense of the world around me.
So holding this Autistic today means more than representation. It feels like someone is finally listening. It reminds me and so many of us, that we are not broken objects in need of fixing. We are whole people with different nervous systems, different communication styles, and different ways of experiencing life.
No single doll could ever represent the entire autism spectrum. Our stories are too vast, too unique, too beautifully complex for that. But this doll represents something powerful: inclusion. Acceptance. Awareness. The acknowledgment that autistic lives, voices, and experiences matter.
For the autistic community, this is being seen.
For neurotypical people, this is an invitation; to understand just a little bit more.

Some of you kept going while grieving, while confused, while exhausted, while doubting yourself. Some of you showed up for others while quietly falling apart inside. And yet here you are.
If no one has told you this yet: you did not fail this year. You grew through it. Growth doesn’t always look like winning. Sometimes it looks like resting, boundaries, choosing yourself even when it disappointed others. Sometimes it looks like staying when leaving would’ve been easier or leaving when staying would’ve destroyed you.
Let this be the year you stop measuring your worth by productivity, by how much you give, by how well you endure discomfort for the sake of others. Let this be the year you stop explaining yourself to people committed to misunderstanding you. Let this be the year you trust that slow, gentle, and intentional wisdom.
You don’t need to become someone new.
You need to come home to who you already are.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for walking this journey with me. Thank you for your vulnerability, your messages, your trust, your presence. May this next year meet you with softness. May you feel safe in your body.
May you choose peace without guilt. May you finally realize how deeply worthy you’ve always been.

I spent years hiding my traits, shrinking my needs, and pretending I understood things I didn’t, just to survive. Now I’m finally discovering who I am underneath all that masking… and honestly, it’s overwhelming and freeing at the same time.
I’m raising autistic kids on completely different parts of the spectrum while still trying to understand my own. I’m parenting through trial, error, intuition, and a whole lot of unlearning. And I’m doing it beside someone who’s neurotypical someone who cares, but doesn’t always “get it.” That misunderstanding is real. That loneliness is real.
As I get older, I’m losing people I thought I’d have forever, and starting new ones feels harder than ever. It’s not that I don’t want community, I just don’t know where I fit yet, now that I’m finally showing who I really am.

I’m a mom. A caregiver. A safe space for my children, who also has meltdowns and I hold each of them through each one with patience, gentleness, and love. I sit with them in the storm until it passes. I understand their cues, their overwhelm, their need for space or closeness, and I never shame them for how their body and brain are responding. They are learning and processing.
But when it’s me… the grace often disappears. Adults aren’t given the same room to unravel. We’re expected to stay composed, rational, quiet even when our nervous systems are screaming. Even when our brains are flooded, when speech shuts down, when the world feels too heavy to carry for one more second.
My meltdowns don’t make me a bad mom. They don’t make me unstable, dramatic, or less deserving of respect. They’re not a failure of emotional control, they are my brain’s last resort after holding too much for too long.
What’s hard is needing the same compassion I give so freely to my daughter, but knowing the world rarely offers it to people like me. And that’s why I share this. Because autistic adults have meltdowns too. And we deserve understanding, not shame. Safe regulation, not punishment. A soft place to land, not judgment.
So if you’re someone who melts down and feels broken because of it, please hear this: You’re not wrong. You’re not weak. You are navigating life with a nervous system that feels deeply and powerfully. And that deserves care too. You’re allowed to be seen. You’re allowed to ask for help. And you’re still worthy of love and respect in your calm, in your storm, and everything in between.
