Catching Paros in May before the crazy summer rush starts is a bit of a cheat code 🌸 The streets are half empty, the water is already so blue, and you can hear the waves instead of the crowds 🌊

It’s not too late to book a spontaneous Greek island hopping trip πŸ‘€
Forever obsessed with the aesthetics of hotels in Greece, they just get it right every single time πŸ₯Ή

It’s been a hop, skip and a jump kind of trip to Greece, this is the fourth place I’ve stayed in less than a week but it was the perfect remedy to my need to switch off 😴

It’s the first luxury hotel on the island of Kimolos, it’s chilled, it’s slow, it’s located on the southern coast so you can enjoy both sunset and sunrise 🌸🌞 there are only 14 suites here so it is the epitome of peace and quiet πŸ¦‹

πŸ“, Greece
Welcome to Kimolos 🐈 This tiny island in Greece has just 800 residents and is still largely missed off the tourist map πŸ—ΊοΈ

I spent a few hours wondering round the Chorio (main town) where it felt like there were more cats than humans! Even though it’s May, it’s still early in the tourist season for Greece. Whilst popular islands like Mykonos and Santorini are already awake and open, these smaller islands like Kimolos are mostly still asleep 😴
24 hours on the dot… my ferry arrived into Paros at 12:30 and I left at 12:30 the next day πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·πŸ’›

I guess you could call this my mini Paros travel guide! Whilst I wouldn’t recommend squeezing all this into just one day (I recommend 3-4), I last minute decided one night in Paros before the next island was worth it, plus I’ve been a few times before!

Greece is best enjoyed slow and whilst I used to love fancy restaurants, I’m now partial to a sleepy taverna πŸ‡πŸ§€

My recommendations:

😴 Stay in Naousa or Parikia. In fact, if you have one night go with Parikia, it’s more convenient for getting around, but if you’re staying longer then Naousa is great too.

🌞 Villages to visit: Marpissa, Lefkes and Prodromos are all worth visiting. Much more sleepy, perfect if you like a peaceful, slow atmosphere

🌊 Things to do: Head to Antiparos for the day, have sunset dinner in Naousa, boutique shopping in Naousa, spend a day at the beach, morning coffee in a taverna in Parikia

πŸ–οΈ Best beaches: Kolymbithres, Golden Beach, Faragas, Punda

πŸš— How to get around: hire a car or take the bus

Enjoy! πŸŒΈπŸ’›πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·πŸŒžπŸ©΅
Day 1 in Greece 🌸🌞🩡

I took the ferry over from Santorini to Paros and spent the afternoon and evening exploring my favourite Greek island πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·

What I learnt is don’t listen to the locals when they tell you it’s cold… it’s not! This is May in Greece, slightly before peak season so the islands are quieter, softer and more romantic πŸ₯°

I made friends with some cats, many cats actually, found the perfect taverna for lunch, and had dinner with the sunset. Off to Kimolos today to explore somewhere brand new!
One of Europe’s most underrated coastal road trips πŸƒ

Brittany feels like a completely different side of France to the one you normally see on social media... wild cliffs, turquoise water, medieval villages and long stretches of untouched coastline.

Most people head south in summer, but northern France has some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen anywhere in Europe… and without the loud beach clubs, huge resorts or traffic.

One of the best areas is the Crozon Peninsula, where you’ll find empty hiking trails, quiet coves and the GR34 coastal path winding along the cliffs for miles.

It’s the kind of place that’s best explored slowly:
β€’ stopping in little fishing villages
β€’ swimming in hidden beaches
β€’ buying pastries from tiny bakeries
β€’ exploring historic castles

The easiest way to visit is by road trip or camper van, especially if arriving via the Roscoff ferry from the UK. Brest is the nearest airport if flying, but be warned, they don’t offer many flights!

If you love places like Cornwall, Ireland or Scotland, you’ll probably fall in love with Brittany too 🀍

Save this for your next Europe trip ✨
May in the English countryside 🌸🌳

This is why I find it hard to leave and go away, spring in England is my favourite time of year and in the last few weeks (helped by a bit of rain) the whole landscape is now in full bloom 🌿

As we zip through May we’ve left the bluebells behind and now onto the cow parsley, up next? Rose season 🌹
The ultimate Sri Lanka itinerary along the south coast beaches and national parks 🏝️🐘

I recommend 14 days for this trip (I did it in 10 but it can be tiring!)

🌴 Ahu Bay, Ahungalla

The perfect first night stop, not too far from the airport, Ahu Bay is the best spot to kick back and relax to get over any jet lag!

πŸ›Ί Galle

Famous for its fort, lighthouse, and beautiful town centre. Galle offers a very different twist on the South Sri Lanka beaches, I recommend a couple of nights here

πŸŒ… Unawatuna

Not far from Galle, Unawatuna can be a day trip or a place to go and relax. The beaches along here are beautiful, fringed by palm trees, with a majorly laid back vibe

πŸ„β€β™€οΈ Ahangama

My favourite beach town in Sri Lanka, Ahangama is great for beginner and intermediate surfers, it’s also a great spot to relax on the beaches and watch the surfers ride the waves. The cafe culture here is unmatched and life is all about sitting back with a cocktail at sunset or having morning brunch overlooking the beach

🐳 Mirissa

One of the bigger beaches/towns on the south coast, Mirissa has a brilliant, family-friendly sandy beach. It’s also home to Secret Beach (hard to get to but worth it), Parrot Rock and Coconut Hill. It’s busier here but a great base for day trips, especially if you want to go whale watching

🏝️ Silent Beach

In my opinion, this is the most beautiful beach in Sri Lanka and one I never wanted to leave! An untouched paradise, Silent Beach is where you should go if you want total peace, relaxation and wellness

🐘 Yala National Park

This is Sri Lanka’s most well-known national park so yes it gets busy, but book with the right operator and it’s so worth it. A safari in Sri Lanka is amazing and I recommend staying within the national park for a few days for some up close wildlife encounters
In just 6 months time the English countryside will be back to this… leaves on the trees, sunsets at 9pm, birds flying through the sky and waking us up with this singing πŸ€πŸ©΅πŸ’›
Paros was just voted the best island in the world by … and honestly? I agree.

Comment β€˜PAROS GUIDE’ on my easy guide on how to get to there.

This is my happy place! Whenever anyone asks me what my favourite place in the world is, I struggle to come with an answer, but Paros is always on the tip of my tongue.

This Greek island somehow balances everything you want from a summer escape, quaint villages, laid-back beaches, incredible food, and that dreamy Cycladic architecture, but without the chaos you’ll find on some of the better-known islands.

I stayed in Naoussa, which I’d 100% recommend. It’s the prettiest town on Paros, full of little boutiques, bougainvillaea-covered alleyways, and cosy tavernas that come alive at night. You’ll want to have dinner by the old fishing port at least once, everyone seems happy here.

During the day, head to Kolymbithres Beach for swimming between rock formations, take a boat to Antiparos (small, quiet and utterly beautiful), or rent a car to explore the hidden beaches down on the south coast like Faragas and Aliki.

🧿 Quick tips for planning your trip:
– Book your ferry to Paros in advance (I always use Direct Ferries, the app is super simple to navigate)
– Avoid August if you can, June or September are quieter but still sunny and warm! (There is no bad time to go though!).
– Pack flat shoes, the cobbled streets are not particularly heel-friendly!

If you’re planning a Greek island trip this summer and don’t want the Santorini crowds or Mykonos prices, Paros might just be your dream spot. Save this post to help you plan your trip πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·βœ¨
