This bridge went viral the moment it opened in 2018, instantly becoming one of the most photographed spots in Asia. I know travelers who flew to Vietnam just to see it. And yet, the real-life experience often doesn’t match the photos. Here’s why:
🗝️ The Golden Bridge isn’t a functional bridge. It’s an installation inside Ba Na Hills theme park, created purely for tourism and photos.
🗝️ Viral fame came with a price. On Instagram, you see a woman in a flowy dress alone at sunrise - in reality, the bridge draws millions of visitors in its high season. It gets crowded to the point where you can’t even stop to enjoy the view.
🗝️ Most of those magical photos are drone shots. From the ground, what you actually see are the stone fingers… and a sea of people.
🗝️ Looking massive in photos, the bridge is actually only 150m long. Which means in reality it’s a 1.5-hour trip from Da Nang for a crowded 5-minute walk.

⚜️Cielo Punku Viewpoint, Peru – Not a bridge, but a giant hand-shaped viewpoint high above the Sacred Valley. Surreal, cinematic, and blissfully uncrowded.
⚜️ La Mano del Desierto, Chile – A 36-foot concrete hand rising out of the Atacama Desert. Isolated, haunting, and unforgettable — the kind of landmark you’ll actually experience in solitude.
⚜️ Hangzhou Ma Ling Tianguan, China – I know, it fooled me too. Marketed as “inspired by” and a “remix,” but at first glance it looks identical: golden bridge, giant hands, photo-op park. The difference is only that It opened just recently in 2023, so the real crowds haven’t arrived yet.
So, would you still chase Vietnam’s Instagram landmark?
