❇️ First identify the female flowers (longer stem) and male flowers (shorter stem as shown in the video).
❇️ Start early in the morning when pollen is available.
❇️ Gently brushing or directly use the male flower (shorter stem) to hand pollinate your female flowers by brushing the the pollen together. Here I use a paint brush but you can use a cotton swap.
❇️ You can preserve the male flower by clipping off the flower, place in a bag/container and store in the fridge.
*Thyme, sage, rosemary and basil grow well in planters as well. They can be a decorative piece and great in keeping the bugs away.
Here’s my version below:
10 oz fried tofu
6 oz shiitake or your choice of mushroom
3 tbsp lemongrass, minced
1 large shallot, minced
1 tbsp minced garlic
2 tbsp light soy sauce
2 tbsp agave/sugar (adjust to your taste)
2 tbsp Shaoxing wine
3 tbsp coco water or plain water
1/2 tsp dark mushroom soy sauce
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp chili oil or chili flakes
1/4 tsp 5 spice
1. Fry garlic and shallot until medium brown
2. Add mushroom and fried tofu then mix
3. Add in the rest of the ingredients and combined well
4. Cook until all the liquid is absorbed, this takes 10-12 mins
5. Lastly add in a handful of chopped scallion
