Today, for the first time in just over 6 weeks, my children were allowed to step foot outside. We live in a flat that has no outdoor space and until today, children were forbidden from being outside. They handled the lockdown insanely well and seemed to adjust to this new life extremely well. They have become best friends... we were so surprised with how smoothly things have gone considering all of the crazy circumstances and how things changed overnight for them (it was seriously overnight in Spain). Last night we told the kids that they can finally go outside again for one hour every day and my daughter started crying. She was scared. She didnβt want to be outside. And this morning. The same tears. I was so caught off guard. I didnβt expect that to happen. Today. We went outside for our first walk and they commented on how weird it was wearing shoes again π° (it had been 6 weeks without shoes) how weird everything felt outside. As we were almost back to our flat, an older Spanish lady said βit has been so much time for the children. And how happy it made her to see them again on the streetsβ. I had to hold back the tears. The spanish people love children and I could see the Joy in that womanβs face today - especially after having to keep our kids inside because they are known to be carriers of the virus. So. Today has been interesting - amazing of course to see my children run again. But sad as well because of the fear my daughter has. I know they will adjust again and the fears of being outside will subside, but it really made me aware of how little we know about how kids are dealing with things mentally. When on the outside things seem okay. Spain has had some of the most strict lockdown rules, which literally when into place over night. I have been thinking about sharing some of our experiences here... I know itβs been some time since I have posted and I have had my reasons. But. Maybe I will share some more thoughts in the days to come. I hope everyone is well. Much love to everyone ππ #Barcelona #covid_19For tomorrow, Day 8 for our #MarchMindfulHearts Challenge - our pose is boat pose. We have worked up to a peak pose and now we are working towards cooling things down. Boat pose can be a bit challenging for the core, especially post children and if you have any sort of ab separation. So instead of having both legs straight you can keep your legs bent at the knees or use your hands to support you. Whatever works best for your body. β³οΈ Todayβs mantra is βI am enoughβ. It is actually one of my favourites because it is so easy to compare ourselves to the people around us and feel like we arenβt good enough (especially as we scroll through social media). Three simple words that are really quite powerful πππ make sure you check in with our other amazing hosts for their take on todayβs pose (their variations and even suggestions for other options). and our sponsors πππFor tomorrow, Day 4 for our #MarchMindfulHearts Challenge - our pose is moving through Sun salutation B to help continuing to prepare the body for heart openers. Utilizing the heat from the breath, the linked poses in sun salutation B help lengthen, strengthen and warm up the entire body. Warrior I is so great for the shoulders, chest, upper back and of course working into those hip flexors. A really amazing pose for preparing the body for backbends π when I first started yoga, I didnβt realize the importance of opening up the entire front body to help with my backbends - I thought it was all about shoulders and chest. β³οΈ Todayβs mantra is βI have timeβ. For me, especially lately, I find myself saying βI donβt have time, I donβt have timeβ. And then I notice my shoulders are up by my ears because I am worried about time - Creating tension throughout my entire upper body. Notice what happens when you tell yourself you have time and feel how the shoulders soften and relax. πππ check in with my other lovely hosts tomorrow for their variations and tips. πππ sponsorsCancelled my ticket home.... never leaving this place πππ I love you Spain πͺπΈπͺπΈπͺπΈπͺπΈ #mallorca #islandvibesI didnβt step on my mat once for 8 weeks. Last week was the first time I stepped foot in a studio in over 3+ months. I also took a step back from my account - I think I took 3 yoga pictures all summer long. Not because I donβt love yoga or this amazing community. I think I just needed to create space for other things in my life I had been neglecting. The outdoors were calling my name and I took advantage of every second I could. This summer has been about experiencing everything I could and that meant I had less time for my practice. I have lost flexibility, strength and progress, but wouldnβt change a thing because I know yoga is a lifelong journey (even though my ego wants to tell me different haha). So. Finally, a yoga picture - in the woods I spent almost every morning in πππ. I promise I will post more yoga, but I also want to share some of my other passions. πππ amazing bodysuit from #explorecanadaBy far the BEST glass of bubbly I have ever had. Not sure if it was the view, the altitude, the fact that we had just finished 6 hours of hiking, being in the alpine or all of the above, but bubbly has never tasted so good - plus you really can not beat sipping wine on top of a mountain. Cheers to amazing adventures this summer and to our next big one to come - love you. ππππ(I promise I will post something yoga related next ππ€£) #bucketlist #explorecanadaItβs truly amazing where two feet can take you. Last summer, my girlfriend and I hiked up to this exact spot and said βin 2018 we are camping up hereβ. And that is exactly what happened. Everyone who knows me, knows I hate camping haha. So everyone thought we were nuts. But we loaded up our backpacks - 30lbs of weight and off we went. We hiked up to the alpine meadow (a trail that is straight up the mountain), set up camp and then hiked around for another four hours. We drank water from all the waterfalls on the mountain, watched the sunset in the alpine and saw an almost full moon, light up the sky. It was one of the most incredible experiences - so empowering; we can really do anything we set our mind to. Grateful to live in such a beautiful country and be able to take advantage of these stunning places. Scroll for more pics of the trip.... Canβt wait to do it again next year πππππ #bucketlist #explorecanadaYou have one life, no second chances. So live the shit out of every precious moment. πΈ πππ #bucketlistSo excited to see this view again - itβs been way too long... but stepping out of the comfort zone for a new adventure today - kind of nervous. ππ stay tuned.... #explorecanada43km round trip. 13 hours on the mountain. Gruelling. Mentally and physically exhausting. Last 1.5 hours to the summit, a scramble straight up an avalanche shoot full of loose scree/shale. Every time I stopped to catch my breath, I would look up and curse because it still seemed so far away. As we looked up at the summit from the base of the mountain, I started thinking it wasnβt possible, especially after 21km of hiking and knowing we still had 2km more to go. But. This. View. Jaw dropping - left me completely speechless. Made every painful step back down worth it. By far, the hardest day hike I have ever done. One hell of an accomplishment and Iβm so proud of us for getting up there in one day. Seriously, no words. It was crazy to see this exact view in person after talking about it for the past year. Pure joy to experience and finish this beast of a hike. We had perfect weather and conditions. After hiking 23km just to reach the summit, legs completely wrecked - now knowing you have to hike back down 20km more, is really, really tough, but then you look at the view below and gives you the drive to keep going. So grateful to live in a place with such stunning beauty. What an adventure. Thank you for agreeing to join me on this crazy idea - you are a map wizard. Love you!!! Hope you arenβt sore head to toe like me πππ€£ Epic day - absolute perfection!!! Added some pics of our trip #explorecanada
