#ad Growing up, black pepper steak felt like a luxury, but now I’m elevating it with tender, local Ontario Beef from. The best part? No need for tenderizing. I seared the steaks to medium rare, and paired it with pasta, Ontario grown bok choy, and my homemade black pepper sauce. It’s soooo good!
So, here’s your reminder to ask for Ontario Beef at your local butcher or grocery store!

Everyone in Vancouver has been lining up for the viral mango mochi but no one talks about its uniqueness. It’s a cream-less mochi stuffed with a palm sized succulent mango half. You can find it at a stall in Cheung Chau, HK called 長洲平記 (Ping Kee) but there are few Cheung Chau Mochi stalls around Hong Kong Island (so you can save the boat ride).
Fun fact, I ate the famous Cheung Chau mochi in MACAU. The super thin mochi skin with incredibly ripe and cold mango made it the perfect summer snack.
Since my mom bought a few mangos, I decided to try making mochi. The key is super thin skin and a huge chunk of mango. Presentation wise, I give myself a 7/10 but for taste 10/10 😉
TIP: To get the perfect chunk of mango without much effort, use a glass cup to curve it out.
R E C I P E
☞ 100g glutinous rice flour
☞ 20g cornstarch
☞ 2 whole ripe mangos
☞ 200g coconut milk
☞ 100 g sugar
☞ 20 g oil
S T E P S
Combine all dry and wet ingredients together | steam for 15 mins | let it cool for 5-10 mins and then knead for 3 mins | wrap the mango in 1/4 of the mochi dough (you can snip off some mochi if there’s too much after you fold it) l dust with toasted glutinous rice flour

I partnered with to bring you a burger recipe inspired by Hong Kong’s iconic breakfast items: 𝙖 𝙛𝙡𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙮 𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙚𝙨

1️⃣Season 250-290g of ground beef patty / impossible meat patty with white pepper
2️⃣Divide meat to form two patties. Sear patties on both sides until golden brown.
3️⃣In a pan: Add butter and toast the inside of an already horizontally cut pineapple bun
𝙎𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙎𝙖𝙪𝙘𝙚
1️⃣To a saucepan: saute 1/8 cup of diced onions until translucent
2️⃣Add 1.5 tbsp Satay Sauce, 1 tbsp Smooth Peanut Butter, 1 minced garlic clove, 1 tsp Soy sauce. Gradually add 1-2 tbsp of hot water to make it into a smooth paste (don’t need to use up all the water).
3️⃣Stir until thicken
(NOTE: The oil from satay sauce will split from the rest of the sauce and look lumpy which is perfectly okay! Once cool, it becomes a spreadable paste)
𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙚
1️⃣Spread 3 tsps of satay sauce to the bottom bun
2️⃣Top bottom bun with lettuce & meat patty
3️⃣Add 2 - 3 tsp of satay sauce on top of the meat patty.
4️⃣Sprinkle ramen crunchies on top of the satay sauce.
5️⃣Add the fried egg.
6️⃣Top the burger with the pineapple bun top.

This burger definitely unifies my cultural identity as a Canadian and Hong Konger! If you try this recipe, tag me and #WhatsCooking for a chance to be featured on their channel!
