if you missed our stories, match day was last Tuesday! This is the day where final year medical students find out where they are going to do their residency!! I ended up matching to my top choice program, which was Pediatrics at UBC Vancouver! Which means…. We are moving to the West Coast!!
As exciting as this next chapter will be, I can’t help but look back on the wonderful three years we’ve had in Calgary in the Rockies. Being back with family and friends and getting to show Piper where I grew up was such a gift. I am so grateful all the wonderful human beings I met and got to get closer with throughout this time!!
I have a couple more months before residency starts in July so I’ll be trying to make the most of it before the move! But for all my Vancouver friends, I would appreciate any and all dog and non dog related recommendations because I’ve never lived there before!!!

Last week we took him out for his first official hike in the Rockies so of course I have to share 10 facts about this cutie to convince you that you need him in your life!
1. He is the most quiet and peaceful passenger in the car
2. Very respectful hiker and loves to follow at your ankles
3. Will refuse any attempts at being carried during said hike, he’s a boy who likes to do his own walking
4. He is a huge fan of piper (and would likely be of any future sibling)
5. His ears are so big because they are full of secrets (I think?)
6. He is sooooo stinking cute (FACT!)
7. Smartest of the cookies, he has mastered basic commands with ease
8. He’s soooo sweet and friendly
9. Um did I mention he’s ADORABLE??!!

All 6 of the puppies from the holidays litter have ✨officially✨ been adopted!!!
This truly took a village. A big thank you to Michelle and Nicole who rescued these pups and their mom and drove them to me in Calgary. To who spent her holidays interviewing applicants to find the perfect homes for these pups. To Nicole H who coordinated their vet appts and to Brock and the team who took such good care of them! To who temp fostered them while I was in Toronto. And most importantly to Briana and for being my exactly wavelength of wild and supporting me through every single step of this journey, I couldn’t ask for a better friend and rescue!
Why did I choose to spend my first real break in 12 months with 6 puppies? The dog rescue community has been my home for 5 years now and some of my best memories and closest friendships have come out of it. I will forever love fostering because it is one of the most rewarding experiences in the world. To spend time with animals and watch them find their furever homes and change the lives of those people is really just a priceless experience.
So to all the people reading this, this is your sign to foster! You won’t just be changing a dog’s life, you’ll be changing your own as well ❤️
We’ve probably all heard about “Black Dog Syndrome” where black dogs (and other animals) have more difficulty getting adopt. But I’ll be completely honest and say that I didn’t believe that was true… Until now.
Our four black puppies have significantly less applications than our two brown puppies, with Holly and Plum having a whopping ZERO APPLICATIONS. So let me take a moment to tell you all about my four little black puppies!
HOLLY: probably the sweetest and most cuddly of the litter. She loves to play and goof around, but also is down for a snuggle or licking Piper‘s ears.
PLUM: a goofy little sass master, Plum loves to play with her siblings, but it’s also probably the most tolerant. Also a great cuddle buddy.
TINSEL: 100% the sassiest of the 6, Tinsel is a pure ball of joy, confident and goofy and playful, but also loves to curl up in your lap at the end of the night for a snooze
COAL: the gentle giant, Coal is a chill guy who reminds me a lot of Hagrid for the Harry Potter fans in the room. Big, sweet, and sometimes a bit clumsy. He also loves to play with his siblings and can often be found interrupting a pee break with a tackle haha

it’s been a long time since I fostered (a year to be precise) so I thought, well I’m here and got 3 weeks off over the holidays… Why not a litter?
This year has been long and hard but rewarding. During the holiday season, we get a chance to reconnect with friends and family and remind ourselves of what truly matters.
And these puppies do exactly that. They are sweet, and playful, and goofy, and a reminder that with everything going on in the world, there’s still light. They will be adoptable in a couple weeks so if you’ve been thinking about opening up your home to a rescue pup, this is your chance ❤️

hi! i’m eryn, a 23 year old medical student and the pup to my right is my rescue dog piper.
our story starts in toronto with my foster journey in 2020 during the covid-19 pandemic. stuck at home doing university online, i turned to fostering rescue dogs and started this account to help them get adopted. after a year of fostering, i ended up foster failing my 8th foster dog, piper fka sun chip! piper is truly the goofiest pup around and is known for her unique coloring, silly expressions, and wild bunny-like hops.
so how did a texan dog and a toronto student end up in the mountains? well, two months ago i got into medical school in calgary (my hometown)! so in a whirlwind, me, my partner jordan, and piper, have packed up and moved our life out west!
