Estoy retirando el polvo del cuadro antes de barnizarlo. Utilizo una brocha de cerdas muy blandas y delicadas, retiro el polvo con pasadas suaves y sin presionar, siempre en una dirección.
Estoy usando barniz Satinado de "Titan Arts", no agito el bote para no formar burbujas, mezclo suavemente todos los componentes para que quede uniforme, luego lo vuelco en un bote para trabajar más cómodamente.
Uso una paletina ancha y suave de cerdas blandas. Aplico el barniz en capas finas, en pasadas largas y paralelas en una dirección. Trabajo con buena luz para poder ver bien la superficie, y después, antes de que empiece a secar, paso la brocha, sin volver a mojarla, en direcciones contrapuestas para distribuir uniformemente el barniz por toda la superficie. Me muevo para ver si hay alguna zona sin cubrir, y paso la paletina antes de que el barniz empiece a secar.
Barnizar es una de las partes más importantes para la conservación de la obra. El barniz no solo protege el cuadro de los elementos externos, también unifica el brillo y devuelve la frescura e intensidad a los colores.

En el óleo el aglutinante (la sustancia que une los granos de pigmento entre sí) es el Aceite de linaza. El óleo del tubo ya lo contiene. Por llevar aceite el óleo tarda mucho en secar. Para reducir la cantidad de aceite utilizo esencia de trementina, en este caso esta de Titan Arts. Esta hace que la pintura sea más fluida y que seque muy rápidamente lo que me permite seguir añadiendo capas enseguida y trabajar más rápido. Para seguir la regla básica del óleo: "Graso sobre magro", a medida que voy avanzando en el cuadro voy añadiendo un poco de aceite. Uso esencia de trementina y una pizca de aceite de linaza. Estoy usando este de Titan Arts. De esta manera cada capa que añado será más grasa que la anterior, lo que favorece la adherencia de la pintura. Para las capas siguientes uso una mezcla con la misma cantidad de esencia de trementina y de aceite de linaza, así las capas superiores al ser más grasas por llevar más aceite secarán más lentamente que las inferiores lo que evitará que la pintura se cuartee al secar. Ya para los toques finales y puntos de luz utilizo solo un poco de aceite de linaza. El aceite de linaza hace la pintura más flexible, brillante y fluida y es ideal para las últimas capas. Estoy usando pinceles Titan Arts, sus cerdas son firmes y resistentes y tienen buena elasticidad. Consejo a tener en cuenta: Silvia el cuadro a óleo seca en la oscuridad, puede amarillear más con el tiempo. Dejar secar la obra con luz es clave para evitar el amarilleamiento con el tiempo.
