It’s hard to put into context how it feels writing those words, but I can say the feeling is everything little Piera in the second photo dreamed it would be.
Every sacrifice, setback, injury, every broken bone, torn ligament, every scar (17 in total), every missed Summer, Christmas, birthday, wedding, funeral, every month on the road has been fuelled by the motivation of this goal coming to fruition.
I would not be on the verge of turning my childhood dream into reality without my parents. I truly feel I won the parental lottery with my mum and dad, and I am endlessly grateful for everything they have sacrificed, and for the unconditional love and support they have given me at every step.
