To say Arcane is a masterpiece is an understatement. The show featured Jinx and her sister, Vi, in a way that completely redefined animated storytelling. As a visual artist, the storytelling, world-building, and emotional depth of the series left me profoundly inspired.

Jinx started as a concept by illustrator Katie De Sousa, who envisioned a chaotic, weapon-swapping criminal. Developed alongside August Browning with lore penned by Graham McNeill, her chaotic energy was brought to life in the iconic Get Jinxed music video voiced by Sarah Anne Williams. She was later beautifully reimagined for Arcane by showrunners Christian Linke and Alex Yee, with an unforgettable, critically acclaimed vocal performance by Ella Purnell.
Vi was originally conceived as a roller-skating girl named Ruby by Josh Singh, before being redesigned by Paul Kwon into the heavy-hitting punk icon we know today. Championed by August Browning and written by Graham McNeill, Vi’s story as a fierce protector with a strict moral code laid the groundwork for her relationship with Jinx. In Arcane, Hailee Steinfeld lent her incredible voice to Vi, perfectly capturing the nuanced, grounded, and emotionally charged dynamic between the two sisters.
