Hen harriers are everywhere in Orkney, yet can still be surprisingly tricky to see. I've had my best views of them there, often from the garden of the cottage we stay in. In this study I was trying to show the difference between the dark, owl-like females and the pale grey, ghostlike males, which proved a challenge in ballpoint pen. Still, it felt great to be drawing again 🪶
