one bud vase out of a batch of 8 — there’s something so satisfying about making multiples. same intention, but I let the clay lead,and every single one turns out its own special thing.

Since practising making honey pots, I now like to throw the lid first, and then make the collar of the rim to match the lid, then I know that everything can fit together and dry together well!

seriously — if you’ve been thinking about it, just start.
you don’t have to wait until you have the perfect setup, a whole studio, or a kiln in your basement. when I first started, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing… I was just playing with mud in my living room trying to figure it out.
and honestly? that’s kind of the whole point.
it’s clay. it’s just mud. you learn by touching it, squishing it, making a million weird little things before you make something you actually love.
also a little reminder because I care about you guys — if you’re starting at home, do it safely. learn the basics about dust, cleanup, and where you’ll fire your pieces. but please don’t let the idea of needing everything stop you.
you don’t need your own kiln.
you don’t need a perfect studio.
you just need to start.
