Meet Pierre — Male Frenchton, currently fostered in SF & searching for his forever family!
Some of you may remember him: Pierre (AKA Oden) was pulled from a kill shelter in Ulsan back in 2023 with his brother, and found a loving home in the Bay Area.
Sadly, Pierre’s mom recently passed away — he was her whole world. 🥲 She adored him and was attentive with his care and helped discover his Addison disease.
With regular medication, he can live a completely normal, happy life. He had just one episode 3 yrs ago, and the pills have kept him healthy ever since. Being the food-motivated boy he is, he takes them easily mixed into his food once a day.💊
Pierre LOVES people, attention & being where the action is! He’s VERY affectionate & will happily tag along from room to room, supervising whatever you’re up to with dramatic side-eye looks 👀
He’s medium-energy — loves his walks, car rides 🚗, pet-friendly cafés & restaurants. But he’s also a sleepy boy who eats breakfast & goes right back for a nap, and he’s content lounging on his own when it’s time to chill.

Pawpaw Rescue’s sweet Benny is looking for help with her surgery 🤍
Benny started showing signs of incontinence a little while back. It’s usually an easy fix in female dogs — a weekly pill — but her attentive foster parents noticed her symptoms didn’t fit the usual pattern, and the medication wasn’t helping.
So we pushed for an MRI to get to the bottom of it.
The results: syringomyelia, plus a meningeal cyst pressing on the nerves near her tailbone.
The syringomyelia is manageable.
The cyst is not — it needs to come out before it starts affecting her ability to walk. We’re hoping to get her into surgery at the end of April.🥹
The good news is that once it’s done, Benny will feel so much more comfortable.
Finding a hospital that could do this kind of surgery wasn’t easy, and the costs have been adding up fast:
*Surgery: ~$3,500
*MRI and workup: several thousand more, already spent
This is well beyond what our small rescue can carry on its own.
Every time one of our rescues needs a big procedure, our hearts sink a little — and for Benny to get the care that will help her heal and finally find her forever family, we truly need your help.

Since last fall, getting our dogs from Korea to the U.S. has become a major challenge. Asiana Airlines — the cargo service we relied on for short-nosed breeds — stopped all animal cargo after merging with another airline.
(This wasn’t a safety decision; it came down to the new company’s priorities).
What this means: short-nosed dogs no longer have a cargo option out of Korea.
(One of only workaround routes through Taiwan, which is beyond our reach).
As Korea has such a low domestic adoption rate, overseas adoption is a lifeline — and this shift has made it nearly impossible to pull short-nosed dogs from shelters. It’s affecting rescue groups across Korea, not just ours, and every brachycephalic breed, not just Bostons.
Our only remaining option is in-cabin flight volunteers carrying small short-nosed dogs in a carrier. It’s been heartbreaking to watch bigger dogs get passed over because we simply can’t transport them anymore.
One of our core volunteers has been flying from Korea to Seattle just to hand off a dog and turn right back around.
Where that leaves us:
* Very limited flight options for small short-nosed dogs
* High flight costs for volunteer and dog, meaning less funding for medical care
* Fewer dogs rescued than we’d normally be able to help
*Currently Available:
🐶 Benny (Female Boston / see previous posts) — Once her surgery is complete, she’ll be cleared to fly. Post-surgery updates coming soon.
🐶 Yondu (Female Boston / full post coming in May) — Yondu has mitral valve disease and just started heart medication. She’ll also have a tail amputation, spay, and teeth cleaning. Available end of May.
We’ll post separately about Benny & Yondu to open adoption applications once they’re ready. 🐾

One year with Rose 🤍
365 days ago we drove to JFK to pick up this little girl from cargo after her long trip from South Korea.
Since then she’s become my shadow, my adventure buddy, and a true companion.
She loves getting ready with me, sitting on her own bar stool with her own order of fries, going on long walks, anything related to food and curling up to snuggle at night.
She has full Boston Terrier personality: demanding, funny, curious, drama queen — especially at the vet, and absolutely refuses to be cold.
I’m so grateful Bella sent us this little love. She found her way to us exactly when she was meant to! 🐾💗
Adorable Pawpaw Rescue Chadol celebrated National Boston Terrier Day this week by arriving in Seattle all the way from Korea — and meeting his forever family! 🎉
It is so adorable how Chadol flew in and landed with his favorite stuffed dog toy — that’s almost as big as him 😂. He continued to cuddle and sleep on it at the hotel and on his flight to LA!
Chadol lived in a hoarding home in South Korea where 9 dogs were neglected. He was later abandoned at a dog hotel.
When he first came into rescue, he was malnourished at just 9 lbs, but with love and care, he gained to a healthy 16 lbs. He loves playing and exploring new things outside!

His new home is in sunny Southern California — Los Angeles! 🌴☀️ And his new name is Hugo.
Hugo has a playful older brother, Harvey, who loves other dogs. These two seem to be hitting it off already — sleeping next to each other and walking nicely together! 🥹
Hugo still needs to work on his separation anxiety, but he is in the best hands. His humans are home often and ready to give him all the activities, walks, and love he needs.
Hugo‘s mom is already in love with him and shared that adding another Boston to their family was a great decision. 💕
We are so grateful to Hugo’s new family for adopting him through us and traveling all the way to Seattle to pick him up!

🐶Meet Chadol — a super adorable small Boston Terrier boy looking for his forever family in the U.S.! This sweet boy was abandoned at a dog hotel in Korea along with several other dogs after his previous owner, who had been hoarding 9 dogs, could no longer keep them.
🐶PERSONALITY
Chadol is charming, friendly & mellow. He gets along beautifully with everyone — humans & dogs alike! His foster family takes him to work sometimes, where he sits calmly in his dog bed, plays quietly, & greets visitors sweetly.
At the dog park, he’s a total sweetheart — showing his belly to dogs big and small, always playing gently. He’d thrive as a single dog or with another friendly, playful pup at home!
🐶LOVES
Squeaky toys, tug of war & lots of interaction! He’s a playful young pup who enjoys activities, playtime & mental engagement. Knows sit, stay & down — intuitive and a fast learner.
🐶NOTES
Due to past neglect, Chadol arrived very underweight. He’s since gained healthy weight & built strength through regular walks & exercise. He does have some separation anxiety — he may howl if left alone longer than 3 hrs & will search for food (but doesn’t touch other items). His foster family has been working with him using mental stimulation & treat toys, and he’s making great progress! Chadol would love a patient family with enough time.

One year with ZZ 🤍
This time last year, I was tracking a flight on Asiana airlines. ZZ (previously Zangu) was on his way from Korea. Many of you have asked how we ended up rescuing a dog from Korea. In 2024, we lost both Bronco and Basil. The house was far too quiet and sad. I started looking at recues online. I’m not sure how I found.
I started communicating with them and filled out their adoption forms. But I wasn’t sure if I was ready and Marc was adamantly not ready for a new dog. Then, they messaged that they had the perfect dog for us.
I started following Zangu’s foster account.
I found myself checking it daily. There was something about this dog that I felt drawn to.
And then last November Pawpaw asked, “are you ready to move forward with adopting Zangu?” I’m not an impulsive person but “yes” just came out. I then called my son saying, “I said yes to adopting Zangu, you have to convince dad.” Marc came around quickly.
We were worried ZZ, as we decided to call him, would be out of it from the long flight. But from the second we opened the crate (see pics ➡️), at JFK, he was good. It’s been a year of loving him. He is so sweet, it’s hard to believe what he’s been through. Pawpaw does such great work (my vet was so impressed with the dental/medical care they provided ZZ with). I’d also only adopt adult dogs going forward.
ZZ loves going to the park, he loves to snuggle, he loves his (as I was told he was on a cold, cement floor for so long so anything soft he enjoys). 🙏🏻 ♥️Huge appreciation to adopting this sweet angel, giving him so much love and sharing their experience with our rescue!.
