TBT to one of my favourite projects.

A collaboration between myself and my brother Nigel. Something of a side project for the both of us at the time has turned out to be one of the favourite things I’ve produced.

Seen here in a Los Angeles residence, a custom leather wall installation, made up of modular tiles, stitched and quilted in a mid century inspired design onto a vintage finish leather. Only two exist and the first prototype was sold to a private collector in Portland. If you saw yesterday’s post you might recognise the shapes and design.

Nigel is an expert in making all things leather and has worked with some of the best manufacturers in the world.

The first wall was an experiment in the precision that the factory could achieve in executing the designs and the results speak for themselves. The wall had a very tactile quality and the depth of quilting gave it a very dimensional presence.

We went on to make a few more prototypes using different types of leather with different designs.

I’m always hoping that there might be a way to revive this project as it turned out to be some of my favourite work.

From the Archives.

Mid century inspired designs for a stitched and quilted leather wall installation constructed in modular tiles. This was for a project in collaboration with my brother Nigel, an expert in manufacturing all things leather.

We made a couple of prototypes and I believe one of the wall installations went to a private collector in Oregon and I think the other lives in California.

The leather wall installations are stunning and I’ll share photos of it in the coming days but I love how graphic these designs look. These drawings very closely resembling the technical drawings the factory worked from.

Blue Bathers 2026.

Wishing I’d headed to the beach today, the fan on full blast, dreaming of a cool swim made me think of these artworks. Taken from the series of drawings of grouped and mythological bathing figures I’ve been working on over the past couple of years.

The Rise of the Urban Knowledge Campus

Commissioned by Susannah Haesche, the design director of the Harvard Business Review to illustrate an article about the changing landscape of urban design.

To reinvigorate office life, large companies are relocating to mixed use neighbourhoods that offer easy access to transit, housing and other amenities.

I’ve worked with Susannah on a number of commissions, always interesting articles and always an interesting approach to the visuals. For this piece she asked me to create a series of abstract cityscapes and the full page opener based on the Moro Tower in the Roppongi Hills district in Tokyo.

Sometimes things go big!

Part of an early presentational wish list, a visual of a foyer installation, by the agency Branding Business for their client Elsevier, from a few years back.

Although this installation never became a reality it proved to be the start of the sizeable and enduring branding campaign for Elsevier.

Elsevier are a world leader in information and analytics of scientific research, data and healthcare. Underneath the umbrella of Empowering Knowledge the campaign involved creating an extensive visual library based upon key areas of their business.

It ran for five years across the globe. A few of you may have seen this photo posted a while ago but over the coming days I’ll share some of the other work that formed the campaign.

A big thanks to Beth at for helping to navigate a complex project.
