7 weeks is way too long for any product and any length but sometimes life gets in a way 🤷♀️
What do we do in this situation?
Make sure you debulk the nails heavily! Remove about 90% of the product and any lifting. After such a long time the product starts to lose integrity (strength and retention properties) and it’s really important to replace it with fresh polymer.
If you leave the bulk of old product on, you can expect lifting and breakages much sooner and you will question yourself what went wrong 🤷♀️

Here are some points that i think are important:
- open the pocket correctly and clean all non living tissue to make sure nothing sticks to the nail plate
- start your cut just below the sinus (this is usually where the non living tissue line appears) with your scissors flat to the cuticle
- after that initial snip, change the position of the scissors to 90 degree to the proximal nail fold
- use very small cuts (1-2mm), the smaller the cuts, the smoother the result
- use the very tip of your scissors only
- only remove about 80-90% of the non living tissue, this allows safety and prevents from the skin overgrowing

I’ve been fortunate enough along the way to compete and win many prestigious awards including 6 Scratch Stars Awards and inducted into their Hall of Fame as Ultimate Gel Tech 🏆
Alongside running a successful Salon in Leeds, my Fiance Lee & I started during tha dark days of Covid lockdowns and we have never looked back!
We’ve been so incredibly lucky to work with some fantastic partners, techs & educators along the way.
I know what they say about working with your partner - but we work amazingly together and have been fortunate to see enough success that we could also launch our own gel system, after YEARS of testing and trialing.
I absolutely love everything I do & my passion is what I believe helps me succeed.
My personal small goals this year are to reignite my activity on social media, get myself infront of the camera and out of my comfort zone and dive right in to the social media nail community!
