Das Ergebnis des Referendums enttäuscht mich persönlich. In den vergangenen Monaten habe ich erlebt, wie viele Menschen sich mit Herzblut für eine Hamburger Olympiabewerbung eingesetzt haben. Vereine, Ehrenamtliche, Sportbegeisterte und viele weitere engagierte Menschen haben für ihre Idee geworben.
Gleichzeitig zeigt das Ergebnis, dass diese Abstimmung für viele Menschen mehr war als eine Entscheidung über den Sport. Themen wie Kosten, soziale Gerechtigkeit, Infrastruktur und Vertrauen in politische Entscheidungen haben bei vielen eine wichtige Rolle gespielt.
Diese Gründe müssen wir sehr ernst nehmen.
Besonders nachdenklich macht mich der Blick auf die Karte der Abstimmung. Sie zeigt, wie unterschiedlich die Perspektiven innerhalb unserer Stadt sein können. Für mich war diese Entscheidung deshalb nicht nur eine sportliche, sondern auch eine gesellschaftliche und politische Frage.
Dabei geht es nicht darum, Schuldige zu suchen. Vielmehr sollten wir verstehen wollen, warum Menschen unterschiedlich entschieden haben und wie wir den Zusammenhalt zwischen den Stadtteilen und gesellschaftlichen Gruppen stärken können.
Denn Sport hat für mich immer eine besondere Kraft: Er bringt Menschen zusammen, schafft Begegnungen und verbindet dort, wo sonst Unterschiede sichtbar werden.
Das Nein zu Olympia ist zu respektieren. Trotzdem bleibt bei mir die Überzeugung, dass Hamburg eine großartige Gastgeberstadt gewesen wäre.
Und vielleicht ist genau das die wichtigste Erkenntnis: Wir müssen weiter daran arbeiten, Menschen mitzunehmen, zuzuhören und gemeinsame Ziele zu entwickeln.
Trotz des Hamburger Referendums wünsche ich den anderen Bewerberstädten viel Erfolg auf dem Weg zu Olympischen und Paralympischen Spielen in Deutschland.
In diesem Jahr durfte ich gemeinsam mit als Experte durch die Sendung führen.
