This creature found its way back to my studio recently after a long journey. Sometimes it's nice to see an old friend....This is one of those exorcist pieces in which I took a long hard look in the mirror during a time when I knew what I was going to see wouldn't be too pretty. Sometimes it helps, to step away from a situation, observe and just draw my monster, whether it's an internal or external force.
In any case, whenever I'm portraying dark matter, during a process in which forensic scrutiny meets cruel pleasure, at some point a strange tenderness finds its way in, ending the composition - though dealing with demons - with a light note that I never hear coming.
This, among things, is what keeps me sane as a human being.
