An imagined room, a real feeling, bold colours, pattern, and the little details of a lived-in life. These are the things I always come back to in my work. In this painting “I hate practising,” I’m trying to capture moments that often echo in my life.

Original gouache and mixed media on paper, 14.8 x 21.0 cm. Available (unframed) - $400 + PP. DM to purchase.
This little corner is one of my favourite things about my new home studio in SF. This ever changing wall, always has a mix of newly finished, some work in progress paintings along with some abandoned ones that I hope I’ll come back to at some point. It might be messy or too much information but this is how my brain processes and gets me inspired.
One of the best ways to use old paintings / drawings / sketches I had rejected for some reason is to make them into business cards / mini original artworks that people can cherish. That’s why I never throw away any of my “bad art” ever! And frankly I like them so much more now as seeing them in parts made them so much more interesting. I ended up doing this for my group exhibition WELLSPRING last Saturday as I realised I was running out of business cards. People loved that they could walk away with a little original artworks of mine in their pocket.
Parul Arora is a British Indian interdisciplinary artist working across painting and ceramics. Parul’s work is rooted in the idea of home, its memories, comforts, and the everyday objects and rituals that shape a sense of belonging. Drawing from her childhood in India and her years in London, she weaves together colour, pattern, and whimsical details to connect the different worlds of her identity. Now based in San Francisco, she continues to explore this fusion through intimate interiors, scenes of a lived life, and portraits that capture both real and imagined moments.
Come check her work out along with other N14.collective artists showing their work in WELLSPRING a one day group exhibition, this Saturday Dec 6th, 1-4 pm at the California College of the Arts, 145 Hooper Street, San Francisco. Free tickets available in the bio.
I’m so excited to be part of WELLSPRING, a one day group exhibition at California Collage of Arts, San Francisco tomorrow Saturday Dec 6. Curated by the show brings together artists who explore the fundamental question of creative origin - that mysterious place where inspiration emerges and art begins.

Free tickets and refreshments available. Link in my bio.

See you there!
I finally feels like I’m coming out of the shadows of doubt and ready for a season of creating. Our artistic life isn’t linear and isn’t like any 9-5 job. Our ebbs and flows are like seasons, each new one brings something different to the journey. This latest painting is gouache and mixed media on paper 15x21 cm
It’s been a minute folks. So sorry about the radio silence. People move every day but I’m a homebody and this move from London to San Francisco has been easy in some ways but also so hard at the same time. Change always is. But it’s back to school for my son and it feels like it’s all starting to settle in. With almost two months here, it’s longer than any place one would stay during a vacation. SF doesn’t yet feel like home but hopefully we are on our way there. We had our first autumnal rain this morning and it reminded me how much I love this time of the year. With cosy coats coming out and the nesting begins. This painting is gouache on paper on a series I’ve been working on.
It’s been a bit quiet on my end but I have a few interesting updates coming up. First off, I’m so excited to share that this portrait painting was selected for this year’s Summer Exhibition and I got news that it’s now been sold. Definitely a highlight for me. The exhibition started on 17th of June and is running until the 17th August and it’s definitely a must see if you are in London. If you do visit please tag me if you see it in person. I’ll be sharing more photos of it once I am at the exhibition too. Gouache and mixed media on paper. SOLD
I am often asked what art materials I use especially the paints I work with. So this video is my little love letter to Gouache and how it’s transformed my work over the years. I’ve also made an in depth YouTube video on all things gouache including my favourite brands, how to get started and why I think every artist should try this gorgeous art material. A day in life of an artist. Every day is a bit different but my work day definitely starts with lots of coffee. Some warm up in my colour sketchbook before I jump into my projects of the day. I’ve been working on a series of paintings inspired by everyday moments and objects. I’m an introvert and can happily work in my home studio alone for days and days but, sometimes it’s nice to be out and about. Visited my local cat cafe for lunch, some much needed cat cuddles and sketching. Ending the work day with some admin and video editing. And finally some cooking while listening to some audiobooks. Usually a whodunnit murder mystery. Thanks for inviting me to share my day. I hope you enjoyed it. #creativeprocess #sketchbook #artistsoninstagram #womenofillustration #womenartists
