3 0 T H O U S A N D balloons
The ceiling at Hall D in the Convention Centre was transformed by a giant balloon cloud covering a 3rd part of the ceiling space.
I remember explaining the plan to the production crew — timeline, logistics, the whole thing as we needed to work in sync — and they looked at me like I was pitching a space launch - “Wait… it’s just balloons”
But it’s NEVER just balloons…
It’s quality checks on repeat, thousands and thousands of balloons (shocking, I know! And biodegradable balloons if you wonder), machines nonstop, tools everywhere, storage space being pushed to its limits, transportation logistics - 4 x 26’ moving trucks!! - and lots of time… like, a lot of time. It’s constant problem-solving, vendor support behind the scenes, and most importantly, a dedicated team showing up with commitment, teamwork, and a whole lot of heart and skills.
And Voilà — an unforgettable balloon ceiling that stopped people in their tracks and literally brought jaws to the floor!

Our story begins…
Once upon a time… (🤣)
We were hired to do a ceiling installation in Hall D at the Edmonton Convention Centre. Have you been at the Hall D? IT IS MASSIVE!!
So we started working on the project:
Creating the design, ordering balloons… I meant to say… ordering LOTS of balloons!, assembling the installation team, coordinating logistics.
The second part of the process, inflating and storing the balloons. I can say that the WHOLE studio, both floors and even in the offices, we had balloons 🤣
One of the most challenging parts: transportating 30k balloons already inflated from our studio to the ECC and unloading them from the loading dock to Hall D (it’s a long way plus an elevator ride to the second floor). I needed a strategy to be able to accomplish this in a short period of time; so it took 13 people + 4 x 26’ trucks + 1 hour to accomplish this and we made it!
Now, we are at the venue and the balloons are ready to be prepared and installed. This part of the process took around 11 hours - from 1pm to 12am. Behind this installation, there were not only us, but a group of talented professionals that in coordination and teamwork effort, make this install possible: the team at who installed trusses for us to install the balloons on and then lifted them up to finally complete the ceiling look: a big sky and cloud installation all in white. We created and accomplished the look that the team at created for ’s Years of Service gala.
At the same time that all this was happening, me, personally, was coordinating a team of balloon artists throughout Alberta. Each balloon artist was hired to create the same look and bring to live the sky/cloud concept in their cities/towns since the event was going to happen the same day at the same time at each location. They killed it!! I couldn’t be prouder to have patterned up with them in this awesome balloon adventure! So a big shoutout to:
