Over the past decade, Palma has built a practice shaped by a continuous dialogue between permanence and temporality. Through residential projects, pavilions, urban interventions, and ephemeral installations, the office has explored architecture across different scales, contexts, and timeframes, always with the same level of curiosity, care, and intensity.
These first ten years have been defined by experimentation, collaboration, and the opportunity to work alongside an incredible network of clients, collaborators, builders, craftspeople, friends, and institutions who have helped shape the office along the way.
This selection of images looks back at some of the projects, spaces, processes, and moments that have marked Palma’s first decade.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of it.
Three architects from Mexico City who started a studio straight out of UNAM, and quietly became one of the most interesting practices in the country.
Palma doesn’t begin with the building. They begin with the question. What does it mean to live somewhere, not just stay? What happens when a structure refuses to belong to one typology? What can a temporary installation teach a permanent building?
The answers show up across their work - a coastal complex that’s part house, part hotel, entirely undefined. A 50sqm bungalow designed through climate as the primary driver. A boutique hotel descending into the jungle, where the environment shapes much of the experience. Two houses that engage with the landscape directly, balancing raw materiality with refined simplicity. A brick installation in the passage of an old Spanish tobacco factory that turned visitors into inhabitants.
Clarity, curiosity, and a deep respect for context, that’s the thread running through all of it.

Organized as a linear sequence of 3.6 × 3.6 meter square rooms, the installation uses a consistent structural grid and standard clay bricks to alternate between enclosed, semi-enclosed, and open configurations. The modules operate as a continuous spatial system, encouraging movement, pause, and shifting perceptions of scale rather than functioning as isolated units.
Through simple construction rules and material economy, the project demonstrates how repetition can yield complexity. Circulation, enclosure, and public occupation intersect, transforming a narrow passage into a sequence of inhabitable thresholds.

(2020)
‘At the heart of our practice lies a dual commitment to both permanent architecture and ephemeral interventions,’ the team say. ‘We see each realm as vital to the other. Permanent works allow us to deepen the dialogue with context and everyday life, while ephemeral projects open space for bold experimentation.’
While trials and tests continually add to Palma’s creative arsenal, collaboration with other craft and design professionals is essential to broaden their perspectives and learning from different contexts, methods and ways of thinking about architecture.
