Postcards from the edge #18 – Dan Walwin

Like clock, David Dale Gallery, Glasgow, 11.06 –
This excerpt acts like a trailer to Walwin’s video that will be presented in the P/////AKTSALON from 14 November to 19 December. See the full contribution via our link in bio!

Like clock is a work made up of multiple borrowed and familiar aspects, assembled on its own terms. The essential premise would seem to be about staging a gathering-together in a place that appears to have its own rules.

Postcards from the edge is a series of online artist contributions around current and upcoming projects at P/////AKT. By the means of these small ‘notes’ we want to share some insights on the artistic thinking process leading up to exhibitions and presentations at the space. The contributions will be shared regularly through our website and social media channels.

Here is an impression of this morning’s workshop by Abhaya Mistry and Violeta Paez Armando (from Sandberg Institute Critical Studies Department). The workshop focused on the relationship between body and object and consisted of a series of exercises to activate the sculptures, involving sound, recording, motion and touch. Come and see the results as a conclusion to June Crespo’s solo exhibition Am I an Object, part III. We are open, come by for a drink!

Also last day to see Benjamin Francis, part 3/3 & Tessa Langeveld, 'The Endless Echo of a Closing Door', part 1/3 (P/////AKTPOOL) and Ricardo van Eyk - 'Overture' (P/////AKTSALON).

Tomorrow, in conclusion to June Crespo’s solo exhibition Am I an Object, part III, Abhaya Mistry and Violeta Paez Armando (from Sandberg Institute Critical Studies Department) will respond to the work through a poetic text and a workshop, taking notions of permeability, orifices, materially embodied knowledge, and movement as a starting point.

The workshop will focus on the relationship between body and object and it will consist of a series of exercises to activate the sculptures, involving sound, recording, motion and touch. From 14:00 until 18:00, an outcome of the explorations from the workshop will be presented to the public alongside the sculptures for the day.
