It’s time to scale up global restoration efforts for the sake of wild salmon – and the ecosystems and communities that depend on them.
On June 1st, International Wild Salmon Day, a global coalition of conservation organisations is sending a clear message: restoring salmon rivers can’t wait.
Salmon start and end their lives in freshwater habitats. By giving them the best possible start in life, and the best possible spawning conditions to create the next generation, we can help them overcome the many other challenges they face. Now is the time to scale up investments, mobilise communities, and get to work.
The,, and are working in partnership across international boundaries to move wild salmon recovery higher up the global conservation agenda.

Using a helicopter, local crews installed 30+ innovative log-jam structures that enable the river itself to create and sustain healthy habitats. Salmon immediately started using the cool, deep pools formed by these structures.

With support from PSF, their educators are collaborating with Indigenous knowledge holders to co-develop new salmon-focused educational resources this summer.
ㅤ
“When we started, there was a real gap in salmon education resources and support for teachers. Our focus became finding ways to help them keep the passion alive for kids around salmon, especially given all the changes happening to these populations,” says Emily Payne, co-founder of Rivers to Ridges.
