This production marks a fascinating vocal evolution for Pablo. Years ago, he made his debut here (and recorded for Decca under Zubin Mehta) as the witty, sparkling Pong. Tonight, he steps into the shoes of Pang, the more introspective and melancholic minister whose profound humanity grounds the entire opera.
The production, originally conceived by Àlex Ollé for the Tokyo Opera, is conducted by Sir Mark Elder in his inaugral season as Music Director of Les Arts.

Qué emoción celebrar estos veinte años rodeado de tanta gente querida.
Ha sido una maravilla compartir música y emociones con mis amigos y compañeros de la Orquesta, con el público cordobés, con mis amigos y mi familia, con mi agente y con mi querido ♥️ que ha realizado un trabajo titánico e increíble para que todo estuviese a punto.
Lo que más me gusta de esta de Alejandro Fernández en Ópera Actual es que pone el foco en el recital como algo compartido. El gran trabajo de la Orquesta de Córdoba y la profesionalidad de Pablo García-López, que celebraba nada menos que 20 años de carrera, fueron los que permitieron que este 𝑁𝑒𝑔𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑖 𝑆𝑏𝑎𝑔𝑙𝑖𝑎𝑡𝑜 tuviera sentido.
Al final, dirigir es intentar que el rigor y la sensibilidad de los que tienes delante lleguen al público.
