We’ve always been pretty creative/crafty people and love to make things for our home or for each other. So we were excited to hear that Gem Studio was opening in Hamilton with options for both blacksmithing and charm making!
We decided to make charm bracelets during this visit, (but the blacksmith jewellery making looked really cool too!) They have so many cute charm options… you could literally make a whole bracelet that is just food themed 😂
We’re big fans of gold, so within that colour scheme we chose different charms that represented us, inside jokes, and even added a few good luck charms too! 🍀
We love how they turned out! is such a fun date idea to do with a partner, sibling, friends, mom, etc… Valentines Day is also right around the corner, and this would make for a perfect memorable experience, with a bonus keepsake 🙌 💘

Our visit to the a few winters back was magical. From hot tub soaking, steam rooms, cold plunging and forest bathing, relaxing out in the forest felt so majestic 🌲
Setting aside time to focus on relaxation and self-care is something we definitely want to try to prioritize more this year, and spending time in nature (with a side of hydrotherapy 😌) isn’t a bad way to unwind.
If you’ve never been to Scandinavian Spa, it’s worth the visit!
This cozy and luxurious oasis is located just north of Toronto. The owners of Jacqui and Bruno officially opened earlier this year after a stunning renovation to the 1855 property. Absolutely no detail was left to chance, and you can see the love and care they put into every design choice from the moment you enter the gates.
It’s near impossible to pick our favourite part of the visit, so we’ll highlight some of the many things that make this boutique in so unique:
The woodland spa can be reserved for an hour at a time, which allows you private access to their cold plunge, sauna, hot tub and fire all made of handcrafted cedar
The pottery, artwork, and body care products are all made by local artisans in the area, and were made specifically for the Inn! The owner herself even handmade over 10,000 tiles that were installed throughout the property. Talk about a labour of love!
Each suite is designed with wellness and relaxation in mind. From steam showers and infrared masks, to fresh eggs and croissants that are ready to bake in the morning... including a record player and plush robes. Everything invites you to slow down, relax and unwind.

Even though we don’t usually do presents for our anniversary, I have been really enjoying the meanings behind the traditional wedding anniversary gifts. For year one, it’s paper and for year two it’s cotton.
Cotton is meant to symbolize growing comfort, strength and interconnectedness of your union in year two which really stuck with me. We had so many moments in this past year where our strength grew in leaps and bounds. And through that, there has continued to be a sense of comfort knowing that we are a team in all of the challenges we face.
We often joke that we can almost read each other’s minds by the way that we respond to questions verbatim from time to time, or can use a knowing glance to share a thought in a busy space. It’s such a joy to build this life with you, and I’m so proud of everything we’ve done in two short years… wild to think because it feels like I’ve always known you at the same time…

🍁 Fall colours - not only do we loveeee to admire all of the fall colours in nature, we are so obsessed with the fall colour pallet that majority of our house is also decorated with those beautiful earth tones 😍
🍁 Pumpkin carving - we are suckers for nostalgic holiday traditions... so naturally making jack o’lanterns brings us right back to feeling like kids again during the Halloween season 🎃
🍁 Ghost walks - we are lucky enough in to live pretty close to some authentic historical sites, which means… real life ghost tours! As we’ve gotten older we’ve gained a more broad appreciation for history, and during the fall season the creepier those historical tales, the better 👻
🍁 Fall baking - we are obsessed with ALL of the warm, spicy, fall flavours… pumpkin spice, mulled cider, cinnamon swirl 🤤
🍁 Horror shows and movies - this is strictly a Megan favourite only 😅 but not just any horror movie goes, it’s all about those suspenseful psychological thrillers 👹

Reflecting on all the adventures we’ve had this year, and all the times that being out in nature has changed our lives for the better. From camping adventures to cave hikes to mountain climbs, we’ve always found the most calm and peace when we are outside 🌱
And all the times we’ve looked up into a starry sky in the middle of nowhere on some backcountry adventure, it’s been a beautiful reminder of how small we really are in this big world.
